This is a song I did up in 2011 when I first purchased Band in a Box. I only had about two or three songs to play so my wife banned me from playing it in the house because she heard it continually all day. I eventually forgot about it. When going through my old folders I found it and decided to give it a make over. This is the 2021 version

Walk in the Park

As I was new with BIAB quite a few of the styles had midi instruments. I kept the midi instruments and got some very nice sounds using the Presonus instruments and BBC Symphony instruments.

This was the original squ.

****** Song Summary *************
Title: Walk in the Park
File:WalkinthePark.SGU
Key=G , Tempo 115, Length (m:s)=3:26
No intro. 32 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 32. Repeat x3 choruses
No Melody
No Soloist track.
Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0,
Style is FOLK.STY (Folk Style)
Style MIDI Instruments are : Acoustic String Bass (33), Electric Piano (5), Nylon String Guitar (25), Strings (49),
MIDI Drums :1 Standard Drum Kit (1)

RealDrums will be substituted :CountryEven8: a: Brushes, HiHat b: Snare, Ride

Scott,
flash back. Sounds like romance tunes of 60s with a hint of Surf Rock. Very fluid. Nice playing and a good find / resurrection. Thank you for sharing.

Nice textures and melody, quite retro, surf feel perhaps?

Scott, yes a flashback to the early 1960's. This sounds like something that The Ventures or The Shadows would do.

Excellent work.

I agree with 'Rustyspoon' about the retro appeal of your instrumental composition, Walk in the Park. But then, as usual in your productions, you create these utterly lovely musical ambiences with other instruments such as the dialogue between your solo guitar and the Real Track guitar (am I correct about that, or did you multi-track two guitars you played yourself?). That FOLK.STY is heavenly and especially because of the virtual string instruments you patched into the MIDI. The end result is a mind, heart and soul-calming piece of musical meditation that opens up beautiful vistas in the listener's imagination.

The string bass gives it a very early 60s vibe...your melodies are always excellent Scott...I can imagine this with melody and counter melody sung as words. ACE.

I really liked the surf style that you put into this. A little bit 'Shadows' sites in there amongst that.

A great 'revival'

My wife and yours could share stories. Like when we keep going over a PART of the song, and they come and close the door. I only use headphones now. She bought me the best and it wasn't even Christmas. Your playing is always so engaging, Scott. You always select the perfect tone, then fill it was the most tasteful notes. This surely shows you know how to bring that out in others, too. Wonderful sounds.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Dave ...

Sounds like something the Shadows might have played behind a beach scene with Frankie and Annette back in the early 60s. I enjoyed the wide panning and separation of the guitars. Thanks for a quick time travel back to a fun part of my life and when music and movies were truly entertaining without all the over-production. Love it!!!

Thanks Mario. Interesting you mention the Shadows and Ventures. At the time it had been so long since I played the guitar that this was the first thing that popped up. I do love the sound of Hank Marvin and when I was a kid every band I played in had a version of Wipeout. Glad you liked the song

Good stuff, Scott!

Like others mentioned I'm also getting a Hank Marvin vibe, both from the playing and the composition. Great melody, lovely tone.

Personally I think that left panned guitar should be more center and maybe a couple db louder seeing as it's the main voice, but that's a minor thing and just my opinion smile

Enjoyed as I enjoy all your instrumentals.

Hi Scott,

You did this in 2011! It's a very nice melody and I heard no trace of midi (the artificial sounding sounds).
The tempo is just right for this song. Mayby Robert?

And I was thinking; with your knowledge of BiaB now, how would you do this song now?
Heavier drums, fatter bass, stronger leadguitar etc.? A vocal perhaps? Maybe Robert?

It was a pleasant listen!
Hans

Thanks Ray. These are very old midi tracks blended together. I like your idea of the vocal counter melody. Will have to throw this in the pool to revisit later.

We get the several 60's references but this is WAY better with it's smooth sophisticated vibe.

Janice was soon scatting along with it smile

We loved the entire production and especially those melodic chops! Sweet tone too.
