Unspoken Lies

I usually write my songs using my guitar, but this one I wrote at the piano; although, I don't think it makes much of a difference. It's standard fare.

The Band:
RT1690 Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopPromise
RT2474 Bass, Acoustic
RT2692 Organ, Rhythm ModernPop
RT3267 Cello, Background CelticAir
RealDrums-ModernPopBallad
Virtual Guitarist Sparkle

Hi Scott,

blessed are those who have never found themselves in that situation. I'm not one of those blessed, so the lyrics stirred up some not so pleasent memories. It really catches that mood very well!

And also musically it's a very good song - not so easy to sing I feel, but you did very well. Like so often before I liked your BGV (it always takes me pretty long to get that together in my own songs...).

Great choice of RTs, very nice: The cello falling .

I really love it !

All the best,

Stefan

Hello Ez ...

This really a well-done song. The lyric is so good and the backing tracks are perfect. I believe this is one of your very best vocals. The harmonies are to die for. It's virtually impossible to not listen all the way through. If I could write and perform a song so elegantly, I would be so thankful and proud.

I found the drum track to be very interesting. I wouldn't have thought of using a "busy" track but it works so good. For me, this song is a great reference for creating a terrific song. Thanks so much for this treat. Best to you ...

Alan

The piano chord progression sounds great and your vocal melody tied in with that really well.
sad song, sad enough to be country but I'm glad you eschewed that option.
Well done.

Hi Scott,

Really like the vocal and harmonies in this one! Good melody too.

Lots of great lines, my favorite:
"Old photographs
Tell the stories we want to still be true"

Wasn't sure about that virtual guitarist initially, but I warmed up to it as the song progressed.

Good song, enjoyed!

Ray, I never thought about country, but I did toy around with the idea of a lone acoustic guitar.

Thanks, Dave. I use the VG occasionally and thought this one gave it a slight percussive rhythm.

The lovely melody and excellent vocal make this feel almost uplifting, despite the desolation of the lyrics. Very good indeed, Scott.

Hi Scott.
I very much like this song and my partner Mary (the reluctant rock star) commented that she likes your voice .

Scott,
Excellent tune. Masterful work on melody and lyrics! Very opened and easy listening tune. Vocals is one of your best, especially how well they eqd and sit in the mix. Overall production is done very professionally. I liked everything about this tune but that guitar (sparkle?) sorry. I think it takes away a little from whole experience. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Excellent choice of the cello, Ezekiel. That and the emotion in your vocal really tell the story the lyrics suggest. "Scattered fragments of love slowly disappear." Sadness is never so deep as when it can't be fixed.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Scott

Really nice song - beautifully sung - wonderful harmonies and lovely instrumental parts.
(I'd be inclined to drop the volume of the guitar.)

Really excellent work.

Hi Ezekiel's Storm,

Beautiful suite of chords on which the piano and the cello bring a plus. Your voice is pleasant and lends itself well to the melody. Well done.

Thanks, Misha. I invested in a better microphone, and I have noticed an improvement in the vocal sound, especially with the treble frequencies.

Nice.

A good write.

(I think it's a good idea to switch to piano once in a while for writing...)

Good production. Really nice vocals and BGVs. Very good mix.

Sounds good.

To present an oft told sad scenario in such a fresh and richly imaged write is no small
feat ... Well done! Most impressive.

And the emotive vocals, excellent band and fine mix nailed the feel. Sad but very engaging.

A really outstanding production.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
