Hi All,

Here's something I wrote a few years ago, but never properly recorded. Something about an old cowboy, lost love, the outskirts of San Antonio and a California dream...

San Antonio

In my mind today I saw you
Running wild through the summer
In the heat of the day
I can feel California
Ready to mourn ya
Headed where the dust winds blow
San Antonio San Antonio

In our days and nights together
Living hard through the winter
In the cold of the night
I left for California
Ready to mourn ya
Shiver when the desert turns cold
San Antonio San Antonio

In my old blue jeans and leather
Driving fast through the seasons
In the mist of the morning
I was in California
Ready to mourn ya
Wishing on the day growing old
San Antonio San Antonio

Thanks for listening!

Classic Bob Dean. What more need be said?

A good write.
Good vocal (a signature sound).
And what is becoming "The Robert Dean Band" signature sound.
Steady as a rock. Quality.

Excellent.

There was definitely a sense of good memories and longing in the lyrics that was quite clear to me, and I think that you did an excellent job with portraying that particular set of emotions. Well done! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bob,

This is a nice, emotional song, you made. And a very consistent 'Dean's Sound'. I read Floyd said something of this kind too!
The bariton guitar works very well in this song. Especially in combination with your emotional, somewhat thin voice. I like that.
It's a pity it was lying on that shelf for so long. You have more on that shelf? Let us hear them.

Have a nice day,
Hans

The tremolo baritone was slightly muddy for the 1st notes of the intro but that settled quickly.
Fabulous band sound & mix.
Cool.

Oh, yeah, that baritone sets the table so well. Excellent lyrics and vocal, as always, Bob. I keep thinking your singing SAD Antonio.

Ah yes...the baritone guitar featured band returns to the stage.

Signature sounds are cool indeed but you always add something special to each one.

Your imagery and vocal present like a film...so easy to see it all.

Excellent!

Guitar intro was a little bit too much for me, after that, classic sound by you all the way. I'm a big lyrics fan, probably why I like your stuff so much. Great job again.

Hey Bob ...

I lived in San Antonio 5 years and Bakersfield, CA 6 years. Brought back a few memories from both places. Your sound is so unique and fabulous! A bit pf poignancy in the lyric perfectly supported by the tremolo guitar. You never disappoint. So great to hear another fine composition nd performance from you!

Bob,

Great listen—that Baritone Electric Guitar just slays; give the tune such body and mood. The write is wonderful in its simplicity and imagery, and the vocal takes it all to a higher level. Really nice work on this one!

All my best,

Deej

That baritone guitar works well here and complements the emotional setting of the song.

"In my mind today I saw you
Running wild through the summer
In the heat of the day"

Love those lines.

Great production and mix.

Yes classic Bob Dean. Super vocal, lyrics, instrumentation and mix. Everything fit together perfectly.

Hi Robert.
I like this. The only suggestion I have is to lengthen the first "San" in that line to emphasise an important part of the song.

I was always amazed and attracted by the mention of city names in American songs. They sound more romantic than UK cities.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
