Potentially, you can speed up generation and general workflow in BIAB significantly....
It took me many months to figure out why my RT generation takes longer than it should, when I compared times to my older and slower machine and also with the times that a few users shared with me. Fortunately, I made a short video and tech support was able to spot the issue. It turns out there was a small file that was made time ago, for Bandstand, so that BIAB could be in sync with that piece of software. Solution was to delete it.
I did... my generation/regeneration and playback speed improved by 4x (about four times faster!!!!)
Sharing solution I received which solved it for me:
"The solution is to just delete this file:
C:\bb\AsstSettings.ini
Or it might be here:
C:\bb\Data\AsstSettings.ini
The delay was a very old feature intended for people using Native Instruments BandStand. Basically, the plugin needed extra time to process patch changes at the start of playback."
See if you got this magic file installed. Hope it helps someone.

Rusty, I’m glad you didn’t post the huge thread where the staff and I first figured this out after a lot of aggravation. But I’m curious: you registered in 2018, but to have this file, you must have had BIAB for over a decade before that?

I have the INI file but it is located in c:\bb\Documentation\Bandstand Technical Notes\
Won't do me any good to delete it as at this time it does absolutely nothing with BIAB

Yes, that location is OK and is not called by BIAB.
I should mention that this tip is:
1. probably not necessary for the huge majority of users, because unless you used Bandstand with BIAB over a decade ago, you don't have this file
2. not a speed-up method, but rather a return to normal if you have this file and if it's in the wrong place and if it has one specific line of code

Matt,
beats me. Computer was purchased 2 years back. That file (AsstSettings.ini) date was 2020. Go figure. I am just glad it is over as it was driving me... to places few want to be in.
Perhaps it's a good idea for developers to have a patch that deletes or renames this file.

Yes, many of us were involved in testing and trying to work out the issue Matt endured. I recall that this file manifests the problems it creates in many different ways.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
