SOMEONE NEW

Everything I want to say
Has been said
Everything I wanna dream
Is long dead

Everything we could have had
Is no more
It died when our egoes
Crossed the door

And I need somebody
To hold me
I need someone who'll love me as I loved
You, you see ...

I don't want to write
A new song
Everything I wanna say
Is long gone

I cannot just cry
Through these words,
It is time for me to heal,
Though I'm broke ...

And I need somebody new
To hold me
Someone to kiss me as I kissed
You, you see ...

The silence overwhelms me,
It is true,
I need someone to tell me:
"I love you".

***

And I need somebody new
To hold me
Someone to kiss me as I kissed
You, you see ...

The silence overwhelms me,
It is true,
I need someone to tell me,

as I told you:
"I love you".

"I love you".

Hi James,

that's very nice. Beautiful lyrics (like usual) and a wonderful backing track. Loved the idea of the sax soloing behind your speaking.

Cheers,

Stefan

James,

A nice, simple lyric. A nice musical bed and the sax works well.

(vocal is a bit "boom-y" on this one).

Stefan: thank you! So glad you enjoyed it.

fj: I desperately need a better mic! Glad you enjoyed it, otherwise, though - thanks!

Nice backing tracks and super lyrics. That sax adds a lot of atmosphere.

I think the vocal should be a tad louder.

You don't need a new mix. Mess around with EQ on your vocals.

James you're getting better with each post!

James,

Nice driving start to this—really like the intro. And it’s a nice write as well. From a production standpoint—and it’s just a suggestion and nothing you need to change by any means—I might hold back on the vibes (or act least what I think are the vibes based on the RTs you cited—could be an electric piano) and mix them in more selectively. And I say that simply because what you have going in the intro is strong enough, for me at least, to carry the song throughout, with the vibes accentuating rather than leading. Nice job on the sax addition. I think that works really well. Nicely done!

My kindest regards,

Deej

Dear Mr. Delsono...

Your latest post is unique and affecting, a musical letter in told in rhyme.

The Real Style you chose -- _PASSING.STY (Passing Slow Dramatic Indie Pop) -- is something I've never heard before. The Real Tracks in the style are the perfect accompaniment for your the lyrics -- warm in tone, such as the golden vibes, and the quietly intertwined play of the acoustic and electric guitars. The fluid, resonant bassline along with the laid-back, almost ceremonial beat of the drums provides a nice dramatic contrast. However, I don't see a description of the saxophone Real Track you used.

As I consider the songs you've shared with us, I believe you're carving out a distinctly personal niche and sound/feel for yourself in the forum -- spoken word poetry backed by music -- that summons memories of 'the beat generation'. You're becoming a finely articulate narrator of what's going on in your heart of hearts, and you do it with a gentleness of spoken expression and an intensity of meaning that makes it memorable.

Here's to your developing musical personality as it manifests itself in the User's Forum!

Blueage's comments are always so articulate and thoughtful AND hard to follow!

The song is both sad and soothing...seems counterintuitive but works extremely well.

Nicelyl done and the sax was a great idea!

Oh my word - thank you. Where to start?

Mario: thank you. Yes, I can sort things out by messing around with EQ on my vocals, but this mic is ALWAYS boomy, which means I ALWAYS have to compensate with EQ. Still ... nothing to complain about :-)

rayc: thanks for listening! I'll try to sing next time, haha ... it's your fault if I cause a riot in the neighbourhood, though ;-)

Greg: thanks for such nice words!

Deej: yes, holding back on the vibes is a great idea, I think! I've not got much time for revision, unfortunately ... but, the moment I do, I will play around with the idea and see what happens! Thanks for the suggestion!

bluage: thank you ever so much. Your feedback is as kind as it is articulate, thoughtful and perceptive. To be even mentioned in the same breath as the Beat Generation is of course an immense compliment to me! It's, of course, putting whatever talent I may have in an extremely flattering light - however, you have made my day with that comment and I shall genuinely treasure it, no matter how little I may deserve it :-) The greatest thing about your comment, for me, is how well you understand my lyrical and musical intentions. That's the best thing, for me, because it means that I've made myself understood to someone other than myself. Thank you so much, therefore, for taking the time to articulate these thoughts of yours, yourself ... truly, truly, truly appreciated. I will look for the saxophone track and let you know what it was, soon as I manage to plug in BIAB again! :-)

Janice & Bud: thank you for listening! Really appreciate your time and your such kind comments!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
