After spending somewhere in the area of 25 hours trying to find a white pickguard for a Squier Jazzmaster, I figured it out. As I think I once said, the Fender pickguard doesn't fit. The tone wheel mounts on the Fender are 5/8" wider than the Squier. Then I though about paint, but what a pain it is trying to paint plastic.

I drove past a truck today that was from a home rescue place that comes in after a flood or fire and cleans your house. It was a lime green truck with a lot of writing painted on it.

Or was it?

It was vinyl wrap! A quick Google search found a place 3 miles from home that did vinyl wrapping. I went to see them and showed the owner what I wanted to do. He said "Oh yeah. This vinyl will do the trick. He came out with a 2x3 foot piece of vinyl, saying "This enough to give you 2 shots at it. Just handed it to me and said have a nice day. It's whiter than the guitar, but it's better than the tortoise shell! Next week I will take it to my guitar guy and he will take it apart, and as a courtesy I will go back and have the vinyl place apply the vinyl so I can pay them something.

White on white Jazzmaster. Coming right up!

Great solution Eddie, looking forward to seeing the finished job, are you an all electric guitar guy, I did notice not an acoustic in sight in your guitar farm.

I've never thought of using vinyl wrap on guitar pickguards, but dang if that's not a brilliant idea!

Of course, I only own 2 guitars that have pickguards on them, and both look great to me - red strat with mint green pickguard, and brown sunburst bass with brown tortoiseshell pickguard - so I guess I'll have to buy another guitar with an ugly pickguard to try this out. Quel dommage!

Just dropped it off to be disassembled. I should have it all done in about 10-12 days due to coordinating schedules. I also dropped my spare EPS16+ sampler in for what would appear to be a simple repair (if such a thing exists). It plays via MIDI controller so the issue has to be in the keyboard's circuit board.

All this JUST to dedicate that sampler to a guitar sample I need in 3 of our songs. It is actually easier and more efficient than having to change sounds on the sampler from horns to guitar and back, because the guitar sound is also played through a distortion pedal (I play "rhythm guitar" on 3 songs when the guitar player solos) and it takes very fast hands to switch back to brass and remember to turn off the fuzz when I go back to being the horn section.

SWEET! Looks awesome. How does it sound?

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I really like that the photograph looks like the pick guard has a black, beveled edge. That makes the pick guard look as though the material is two ply. But, I guess in a way it is!

Yeah the place that put the vinyl on trimmed it so the black edge shows. I live it!

A few years ago a new car was getting raffled off to support the fight to cure woman's breast cancer. In addition to raffling the car someone came up with the bright idea of (1) painting the car pink and (2) selling tickets to write messages of hope and support on the car. The car was wrapped.

After the fund raiser the winner was photographed in front of the wrapped car. The wrap was a pink color that was almost a glow-in-the-dark, highlighter pink. Permanent Sharpie pens ensured the messages could not be washed off. Memorable car to see.

The following day the new owner was photographed beside the unwrapped and cleaned up car. What can I say, the car was white and bland.

There are several NASCAR shops in this area. They all use wraps instead of paint. In addition to the cars the trucks and trailers used to haul the cars and equipment are wrapped.

I've watched a car get wrapped and it is an amazing, detailed oriented task to see.

That's disappointing. I'd much rather have a pink car covered in messages of hope and support than have a boring white car. Heck, I'd rather have literally any other colour than white!

I wrapped a car around a tree once, but that's probably a different context of wrapped....

I live in sunny Florida. A white car may not be the best fashion choice, but it's the best comfort choice.

Up here in the "frozen north" we apparently like our cars silver - maybe that's so we don't confuse them for an igloo. Apparently the top three car colours in Canada are silver, black, and blue.

I think Florida may be a Spanish flavored word for "surface of the sun".

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
