I'm using BIB ver 2020 423 on a Mac. I exported an audio file I made in Logic Pro X as an mp3 file. In Logic it was recorded in 2/4 time at 70 BPM. When I import it to BIB, I disabled the style. When I click on the time signature to change it from 4/4 time to 2/4 the signature box comes up and I click the 2/4 option. However, BIB won't change it from 4/4 time.

Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Chris

Hello ChrisO, there is a build update for the 2020 version available here: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_macintoshupdates.htm#2020_426

In Band-in-a-Box when you enter a new time signature at the top (in blue lettering), a red line will appear on the bar to reflect that there is a change in the settings. But it will still show as 4/4 at the top. It will show a new time signature at the top if a new style with that time signature is loaded.

Thanks for the input. I finally found the download link for the updates.

Also, one other question regarding audio imports.

I recorded a guitar in Logic Pro X at 2/4 time, 70 bpm. When I import it to BIB, BIB sets the time signature at 4/4 and the tempo at 140 bpm.

When I tried to change the time signature and tempo match what was set in Logic, I can't get it sync. The tempo at 70 bpm is like BIB only slowed the music down. When I go into audio edit and try to change the tempo to line up with a 2/4 time signature, it increases the tempo to over 200 bpm.

Am I not understanding the audio import function or is what I'm trying to do too complex for BIB?

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Chris

Generally you should set the tempo before importing the song, however if you right click the audio track in the mixer you can tell it not to conform to tempo from Track Settings. Please see my attached screenshot.

Very frustrating. Nothing happens when I right click. When I left click I get Mute, Solo, and Kill audio options.

I don't understand if Logic is set for a tempo of 70 why BIB only plays this audio at 140. If I try anything to set it according to Logic, it's gets all screwed up. Either BIB can't handle audio this way or there is something I'm not understanding.

CHRISO. try this procedure n tell me if it works.
please execute steps "precisely."
its a test.
if i understand you correctly you want to import and run a audio file from logic at 70bpm..right ?
1. open up biab.
2. FILE>>NEW
3. SET TEMPO TO 70. and time sig to 2/4.
4. IMPORTANT >> SAVE AS named TESTER. and exit.
5. OPEN UP TESTER...
DOES THE TEMPO SHOW 70 STILL ?...if so ...
6. IMPORT LOGIC X FILE.
DOES THE TEMPO STILL SHOW 70 ?
IS ALL GOOD ?
7. if so continue on with your work.
please report back.
best

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
