Tried rendering "One Track Per File" as ".mp3" and ".wma", with no success, on two different computers. It DOES render "just the mix" okay, with "One Track Per File" unchecked.

It goes through the rendering process for each instrument, looking the way it used to (when it used to work), and says "Successful" when finished, but the files are nowhere to be found. Did a search of whole drive.

Also, the folder no longer "pops up" to show the file(s), after the yellow "successful" box appears.

Help would be appreciated... Thanks

Hello Thunderthud,

It may be worth trying to go to Options | Return to Factory Settings | return MOST to factory settings (excludes MIDI Drivers and patch maps). Make sure the checkbox for "preserve location of Realtracks and RealDrums folders" is checked as well. When you do this, a window will pop up giving you the option to save a backup of your preferences so you can easily reload them.

Let us know if that resolves the issue. If not, we'd be happy to troubleshoot further.

Thank you,
Ember

I had the same problem when I tested it trying to render to audio file as individual files.

I expected to find them in the Current Song directory. It went through the motions all the way up to the yellow "successful" box but none were created.

However, the drag-drop method did work and that created individual files to the BB DragDrop directory when I dragged the MASTER to the Drop Square as MP3.

Using WIN 20H2 and BIAB build 838. Since I have used this rendering method before with WIN 20H2, I can attest that it did work before this current build.

Also did a RTF but still did not work when rendering.

I know that the above is the general "GO TO" answer for every issue... But, it's happening on two different computers, and apparently JCLand is having the same issue.

So, I'd appreciate someone there taking this problem seriously. Thank you.

I do understand that, but I was replying to Amber, who I believe is support staff. Thank you.

OK I played around with this and I could not get BIAB to render an audio file to either WMA or MP3 format. I tried all various bit depths, sample rates, channels and qualities and they all failed to produce any files in the directory. BIAB went through the process of rendering on screen and the BIAB log shows a successful rendering with zero results, but no files were produced.

When I switched to a WAV output, it performed flawlessly with all tracks rendered.

I had something similar a while back where only certain tracks were rendered successfully and others were not.

I am not sure if it is related or not but here is that thread.

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=87776&Number=633268#Post633268

Andrew came up with a workaround on that one but that workaround was unsuccessful in this case.

Follow Up: I did notice that one of the improvements in this build was "Improved: Enabling render setting "Individual tracks flat, dry, and center” will improve rendering time."

I also just found that if I only render the MIX and not individual files, the program produces a mix MP3 that plays just fine.

When I chose individual tracks and NO mix, I get nothing rendered.

Same when I chose individual tracks AND include the mixed track, nothing is rendered.

It points down to a problem rendering individual tracks using this method.

Something has changed internally with this build, just not sure.

For now, I would suggest rendering as WAV files and then convert them to MP3 using a utility program if you need MP3 as the final result. Otherwise use the WAV files as they seem to render just fine with this latest build.

We were able to reproduce this; individual WAV files render, but MP3 and WMA does not render as individual files. We will report this to the development team.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
