I'm using Audient ID22 as my mic input and prefer external hardware for nil latency. Just today I cannot get in to BB because of an error message,
Windows Audio Session error. Input and output sample rates must match Audio input (recording) will be disabled. Error number is .9997.
This never happened before. There is no input and output on the Audient ID22 interface and I've tried looking in Cubase audio options but just cannot open up BB at all.
Thanks for the reply 'VideoTrack'. Unfortunately that doesn't work. I would hate to have to reinstall everything. The Audient ID22 is a brilliant sound but limited, in as much as only the the sample rate can be changed. There is no input/output option.
I was wondering if there might be a file in the BB folder that could be edited to get the software to load, like making input/ output the same.
And by the way, "...only the sample rate can be changed." That is the only thing you need to ensure is matching.
I don't know much about the Audient ID22, but if it is like my MOTU Audio Express which was about the same price, you need to at least have a minor degree in sound engineering to fully comprehend. So I am suspecting the problem here is the user. But correct me if I am wrong.
Hi Dan. My Audient is the ID22, the link you gave is for a different model.
Yes of course the software gives output for the ID22 to input audio to the PC.I use headphone monitors when using Guitar and vocal so only need the ID 22. my keyboard goes straight in to the PC VIA usb.
The issue is I cannot get BB to open while the error keeps popping up so I cannot alter any settings inside BB.
OK, the link I provided addresses several of the products, including ID22. This is the specific version of the current driver. Do you have this installed? I see it installs a control panel much like my MOTU.
BIAB sample rate will be 44100 Hz. If there is a mismatch on startup that means you have your ID22 audio set at 48,000 Hz. My MOTU has a button on the interface to switch. In fact the MOTU auto senses to match the application, however, this is prone to error and often gets mixed up on my system.
Sorry to be pesty. Perhaps a reinstall of BB is needed, however I have seen this (or similar) issues before and the fix for me is a reset of my MOTU drivers - just a reinstall. I often attribute this to windows 10. As you may know, Windows 10 is in the process of rolling out a major update. Hit my machine two days ago. This frequently messes with my audio setting. So I do a simple reset by going into "Add or Remove Programs". I scroll down to MOTU and do a "Reset". After a reboot every thing is back to how I want it.
And by the way, I have never seen BIAB not open due to a mismatch of the sampling rate - rather as it says it just disables recording. Perhaps this is a new thing.
Mal. i have the audient evo but not your id22. do you see the audient drivers listed in cubase driver selection ?? your id 22 should have an app for settings like my evo. do you have the app on your taskbar..? i love my evo app for settings. in addition audient have a very nice article on "optimising a pc for audio." have you read that ? >>>> https://support.audient.com/hc/en-us/articles/202335209-Optimising-Windows-Computers-For-Audio make sure you have the id 22 as your default windows device AND set everything to 44.1/16 cos thats what works for me. its very difficult to help further without pics of your pc settings...so.. post pics of the following... 1. your win recording and playback settings...2 pics. these should show audient. 2. pics of your biab driver selection settings. 3. pic of the id 22 app settings. 4. pics of your cubase driver settings. best om
Yes om. I love the ID22. I have sorted it now. Something had been corrupted somehow in BB. Icopied the existing BBfolder over to another SSD drive. Re installed BB 2021, then copied over all RD's, Soloists, RT's etc, etc.
Mal. good. fyi...i once lived in espana. miss it. ive lived/worked all over the world. but spain is one of my favs. particularly the med food and occasional glass of wine. i also love paella. best om
Glad to hear you were able to get it working! Typically this kind of error message comes up when there's either no audio device being detected or plugged in, or when the sample rates in your Windows settings are not matched, and typically adjusting these settings in the playback/recording tab and making sure you're not in exclusive mode does the trick - but it's good to know that this error may also potentially by other things which will help us dig a bit deeper should these typical steps not resolve a person's issues, so thanks for following up with this information for us on how you were able to resolve it.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
