I recently tried watching some "Sing Along With Mitch" (I'm reminded of him because I see his image up there.) I guess it might be a different experience if I actually sang along, but man, it is hard to relate to that kind of bland "ensemble" singing. I do have clear memories of human beings around me enjoying it, when I was very little.

I listen to the entire video. Perhaps because I am older and lived through all those songs I began to wonder just what the point was. Mitch Miller had a lot of influence? Well yes, is that supposed to be some earth shattering news?
Sure " One eyed one horned flying purple eater is pretty silly" but I always sing along when I hear it.
Perhaps not everyone likes rag time piano or childish lyrics. So what is new about that? Do you think "who let out the dogs" is any different?
I am glad that I have retained some of my childish likes and all that stuff will never die in my mind.

To clarify, my remark referred to the condescending, bordering on disdain, for a genre of music that seem to resonate with Americans at that very time in history. The television shows reflected the same connection. One of the great Hollywood producers, I think it was Jack Warner, replied to a pseudo-intellectual reporter, "When I want to send a message, I call Western Union."

DISCLAIMER: I only watched the first few minutes of the video. TL/DR!
Part of the reaction against goofy old songs might be from contrasting them with what is imagined to have been going unsaid at the time.
That reaction may be unfair, but I'd resist seeing it in terms of anti-populist media elitism, or anti-fun intellectual snootiness, or whatever. I see it more in terms of what one culture can perceive about another culture that the other culture cannot perceive or acknowledge about itself.
Right now, I'm thinking of Lucy and Ricky in separate beds every night, like any other early TV couple. I'm remembering the episode where Lucy and Ricky and Fred and Ethyl go on a vacation, and (of course) the men stay in one room and the women stay in another.
We look at that stuff today and shake our heads at these bizarrely repressed representations of human life.
People at the time, of course, loved the show and didn't bat an eye at the blatant disconnect. But we do get to comment on it. We get to notice it, and speculate on what was up with the world that had this peculiar result. And then we do get to speculate on connections between the "TV bed rule" and contemporaneous attitudes toward unmarried pregnancies, etc.
Is "Maisey Doats" weird and repressive the way Lucy and Ricky's beds are?
The beginning of that video looked like she would say yes. I have no idea.
The perspective of a lyricist from the time could be interesting – "I couldn't sell my songs about misery, depression and death for 5 years because of Mairsey!"

I believe that the presentation gives us an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of music and how it is presented. Every one of the song references was factual. We may have a different take on that music nowadays, but in its day, it was the way music was presented and how it has evolved.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
