Howdy Bob....

Interesting VST....no doubt.

I could anticipate giving it a try but I'm always wary of 'free' stuff sites and their offerings.

Have you tried it?

Thanks for posting the link.

Carry on....

See the other thread on this.

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=670409#Post670409

It has several limitations at the moment; that’s probably why it’s free now.

No....I haven't as of yet.

Matt's link suggests it's still incubating and maybe not ready for prime time quite yet.
Hence....it's 'free'....for now.

I use Sonar X3 and could see an occasional potential for it but not at this time.

Have a great day all....

FYI - Here are a few audio to MIDI conversion programs:

https://www.geekdashboard.com/best-mp3-to-midi-converters/#:~:text=Best%20MP3%20to%20MIDI%20converters%20and%20online%20tools,5%20Audacity%20%E2%80%93%20Open%20Source%20MIDI%20converter.%20

Some are free, some demos and some are on-line conversion programs. Also don't forget that on the Window's side RealBand will convert monophonic audio files to MIDI.

Also note that whatever converter you use they may/will be some editing that you will have to do to get a perfect MIDI file. Personally I have found that Melodyne is the best audio to MIDI converter as it requires very little if any editing.
YMMV

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

This may add some info... Is does show it is polyphonic! It uses an off load to their cloud server which is a bit weird, but it is what it is. I love Melodyne for vocals, but I did not purchase the very expensive polyphonic version.

This is what happens when there are two threads on the same subject.

Yes, it worked for me in Studio One.

Yes, it’s polyphonic already, just not stereo.

Well that was surprising! I got Samplab working on a cello/vocal duet snippet in Logic, and was quite surprised at what it does.

It doesn't just analyze an audio track and create a corresponding MIDI note data track, it analyzes the track then uses MIDI to drive samples extracted from the original audio.

It's like having a MIDI interface to the individual instruments in a recorded performance.

The untweaked output sounds the same as the audio input. I thought, "I must be listening to the wrong track, that's actually George's voice, but I'm trying to play this software instrument track." But I was doing just that, playing a MIDI track, as I discovered when I tweaked a few notes on the piano roll and heard George change pitch.

I don't know what this thing could really be capable of in its full theoretical possibility glory, but if it can keep anything like a promise like that, woo hoo.

P.S. – Yes, I understand there's the other thread.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
