if i set ozone 9 elements for the final mix and close the window the sound is fine. but if i reopen the fx window for example to see the eq settings, ozone reverts to 'start again' settings.

from memory i think nectar does the same on vocal tracks. if i save the song the settings seem to stick but most of the time you have to get everything right before you reopen the fx window or you lose what you had set up.

anyone else see this happen? its a pain when you want to tweak another plugin.

Yes, it acts the same on my setup Bob. Ozone 9 elements loses its settings if the FX window is closed and reopened.

thanks Del - at least its not just me. is it a quirk of ozone or RB? does anyone else use Ozone on another DAW? if so does it do the same?

I can confirm the issue in the latest RealBand - the issue doesn't seem to happen in BIAB or other apps, so I'll report this to the developers.

It's something specific to iZotope plugins, since I found it happened with all of the ones I have - being Ozone, RX, DDLY, and Insight. Every other plugin I've got here works fine for me in RB.

I think it makes a difference whether you use the VST or DX version of Izotope historically, though I realize recent versions of the plugins are VST only, so likely not really helpful for most.
Except to point to how Izotope handles VST settings/storage as part of the issue.

Anyway, I think I remember previously that the DX version would not do this, so when it was available I would use DX vs. the VST.
Not sure if that helps anyone these days but thought I'd throw it out there as it may help a developer somewhere solve the problem, whether at PGMusic or Izotope.

Hmm, I didn't know they used to offer DX versions. All the plugins I have only offered VST2/VST3/AAX and one or two of them offered NKS and RTAS. Oldest iZotope plugin I own is RX5 but that's only a few years old really.

You made me fire up the old W7 laptop to get this, but it looks to me like there is one in the DX list and another in the VST list.
<grin>
yeah I'm old and should have discarded that machine long ago, but it's my backup if everything else dies, heck it'll probably remember the settings in RB if I use the DX smile

Good to know rharv! I would've never known that, since most of my musical life has been spent on a Mac - I only learned about DX plugins when I started working here!

Heh, I learned of them when JCJR sent me his first one for PT6 or 7 to have me test it years ago (PGPeakLimit) ...
yeah I been here a while!

You sure have! I mean, you're forum member number 32... I think there are only 2-3 still active forum members that are lower than that, and one of them is Peter.

That's why it's always Rharv's fault.....

"you're forum member number 32"
To be fair there was a forum before this one where we all had different numbers. Then they switched to this platform.
The reason my number is so low is because I was pretty active on the previous forum, so was one of the first to see the change and re-register.

The Cakewalk forum has had a couple of conversations about Ozone plugins not maintaining project settings between sessions.

rharv, if you ever want to pull out the DX tools, Cakewalk supports DX and DXi.

With 20,000 posts, I think you're pretty active on this forum too - and I think I speak for everyone that we're glad you are.

Interesting that it's happening in other programs - this leads me to believe that the bug is in iZotope itself. It might be triggered by something RealBand is doing though, so we'll have the developers take a look and see if there's anything they can do to prevent triggering that bug.

same the last two patches which post date this thread haven't dealt with this problem which affects some very useful plugins.

will it be fixed in 2022? that's not so far away and i for one hope that we get RB and BIAB versions that don't need patch fixes in October 2022

The developers are looking into the issue, but as I said before we think the problem is from the iZotope plugins, as the problem exists in other programs.

Thanks Simon,I seem to remember that it doesn't happen with BIAB so it might be some isotope glitch that RB might be triggering and that there might be a way of avoiding it.
