Ninth months after the release of BIAB 2021 and we're still getting quite large bug fixes. PG Music programs are awesome but will 2022 choose reliability and long term wish list fixes over 'new features'?

Fixing the RB glitch with Izotope plugins would be at the top of my list.

The more 'new features' the more complicated BIAB gets and - or so it seems - the more bug fixes we need.

Still, BIAB and RB are wonderful for producing my kind of music.

There are more than 430 fixes since 2021 was released. Several of us are working separately to try to get that resolved with improved testing techniques. We hope that this can be successful.

good luck VideoTrack. i'm not sure i need any new features though - others may differ. new RealTracks are enough of an incentive to upgrade for me.

I'm certainly not referring to delivering new features, just making the existing functionality more robust, and avoiding the ongoing re-introduction of bugs that continually seems to occur.

I expressed the above view in the below thread earlier in the year, and maybe just maybe hope that PG is listening. Ok just give the Utility tracks full Realtrack functionality then leave it at that.

New Realtracks or midi styles and other add-ons a big Yes, but no more new features, that everyone is bug hunting for the greater part of the year.

But what if those new features included making the utility tracks like regular tracks for both RTs and MIDI? Or included time signatures other than 2/4, 3/4, or 4/4? Or streamlined the menus? Or allowed the beta testers a lot more time to report bugs?
etc etc.

Although I used BiaB in virtually every song I am getting disturbed the way they are introducing new features that are only a quarter to a half finished; features like utility tracks and the VST.

YMMV

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

From comments that were made earlier this year, I hope it’s a given that Utility Tracks will be improved. There were even improvements after the initial release of BIAB 2021, once people had played with it awhile. Many threads exist with solid suggestions.

My preference for BIAB 2022 would be to continue with development of new RealTracks, improve functionality of Utility Tracks, and in 2023, revise core code to fix longstanding shortcomings and prevent reintroduction of bugs. I’m fine with no other new features this time.

Yes, I'd prefer 50 bug fixes (that actually work) over 50 new features any day.

Agree 100%. Matt!

... but the seemingly endless bugs and patches are a strong disincentive.

My reality over the couple of years I've been using BIAB since I last ditched it in despair, back in about 2013, is that I feel like I've expended more time and effort trying to work around bugs and/or establish the cause so they can be better fixed, than I have actually using BIAB. BIAB does a great job when it's behaving, but to this newbie second time around, it sometimes feels like darned hard work.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
