Hello, for whatever reason, if I change the tempo of a song I have created with RealBand (i.e., go to the tempo field in RealBand and change it), the actual speed remains constant, regardless of the value I have. Literally the speed of the song at 120 is the same as it is at 8. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you are using audio tracks or RealTracks or RealDrums, then that is correct. Just changing the tempo isn't going to change the underlying WAV file. The tempo will only affect the MIDI tracks. I haven't look at this in a long time, but I believe RealBand will do this for you, but not just by changing the tempo spinner. If you want to change the tempo of the audio (non-MIDI tracks), you need to run the command to change tempo (I forget which menu item it's on) to reduce or increase the tempo/song duration. You have to do that for each affected track. It may also probably result in funny sounding artifacts depending upon how much or little you change it.

If song is all audio-
Right-click wave display and use the change pitch/tempo selection.
Can be run on more than one track.

If a combo of midi and audio, will be more difficult.

Got it. Thanks. I see it all now. Important to know it won't work well on mixed tracks, which is ok as so far I have only used audio tracks.. worst case I can remove all tracks and re-add them after changing the tempo.

thanks!

Hi guys, happy holidays. I realize this is an old thread. I'm trying to change tempo of a few audio tracks in RealBand 2021 for my own analysis/practice. I select a single track and invoke the "Time Stretch and Pitch Shift Selected Audio Tracks." A yellow box appears with "1 consolidated file to process" and the progress bar immediately goes into "Progress (Not Responding)" and never recovers. Any insights? Thanks!

Best, Warren

Hi Warren,

What year is the program you are using? If the program has it, I suggest using the Return to Factory settings, All. That's in the Options Menu bar. You will need to redo all the preference settings including audio and midi.

Jim, it's brand spanking new 2021. I'm using a few audio tracks generated in version 2019. The SEQ opens and works fine, but not this feature, unless I'm not doing something correctly. I'm running BIAB/RB off of the external drive but it's USB 3.0 and my computer is a new I9. For the heck of it, I did reset to factory defaults, and same behavior. Sounds similar to this-https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=419362 Thanks!

Thanks rharv, good to know it’s a global and not a local bug! Please keep us informed if you hear anything, and happy holidays.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
