Modern dance music feels high. But dance style in band in a box feels more popular.
I also like this feeling. However, can we make some styles, including the true track, which is more like the timbre feeling of nexus and Avenger. Also come to some real tracks of electronic timbre.
I also like all of you now, but I hope to make young people like it better. I don't know if I can.

This is an interesting question. We have discussed the modern nature of music versus BIAB's more aged sound in the past, but maybe this emphasis on "dance" puts a bit of a spin on it.

First, Nexus and Avenger are synth based loop music which is more dependent an vibe and groove including shifting rhythms and heavy beat. Nexus describes its product as "...Nexus delivers complex, ultra-fat, contemporary soundstorms". These may well be typical to modern dance music. But unlikely anything I could dance to. grin. Does that make me old? cry

BIAB, on the other hand, is based on Chords and harmonic changes which support melodies . I would suspect that songs based on a "complex, ultra-fat, contemporary soundstorm" would have little in the way of a melody. BIAB is therefore more suited to songs.

Maybe someone can answer this question better than me.

I agree with Dan's reasoning that loops based dance music generally focuses on the beat while Band-in-a-Box dance music focuses on melody. I think that is actually a pretty astute observation myself.

I hope this discussion continues. I believe swingbabymix has some specific thoughts how current dance music differs from Band-in-a-Box dance music and hope he will share his thoughts.

In my opinion the second part of the initial post
Quote:

is better suited for discussion in the +++ Styles and RealTracks Wishlist +++. I am happy to add my support for the suggestion once it is posted in the wishlist.

The melody is beautiful. But there are too many melodies, which makes people feel tacky. I have a strange discovery that many music do not require high melody.
Young people prefer rhythm and simple melody, which can make the voice feel cool.
Actually, I think band in a box can do it. Because these are not as complicated as pop songs.
First: make some dance styles
Second: some commonly used electronic rhythm
Third: integrate some pop and jazz, which is the strength of band in a box
I think I will like band in a box more as I get older
However, in order to let more young people use band in a box, a more modern dance music package should be added.
According to my recent observation, people who use band in a box are generally very old. Of course, this has something to do with the long history of band in a box. grin

Let's discuss it here.
Why don't you post a post first? My English is not very good.

To me, most "modern dance music" seems very strongly quantized and the main rhythmic content is usually heavily compressed. That's pretty much the opposite to what RealTracks are doing, which is incorporating the interpretation, the variation, the human fallibility into the music.

But ... running a pop or jazz riff over that very strict rhythmic content can work well.

The catch is that most jazz has "swing", where the whole rhythm is very deliberately not quantized onto the 4/8/16 beats structure, and generally (IMHO), a mix of swung and straight sounds untidy or confused unless handled very carefully. A swung solo over a straight rhythm can work OK, just as a 5/4 solo over a 4/4 rhythm can work, provided the solo "floats" over the main rhythm and doesn't try to compete with it (again, IMHO).

Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

When I was studying EDM (Electronic Dance Music) to make my EDM disk http://www.nortonmusic.com/style24.html I learned a lot about different rhythms that at first listen may sound similar. The differences take time to recognize.

I also noticed that many of them evolve which is why I made mix and match mega-styles on that disk so you can have A, B, C, and D parts that are related but vary.

There isn't much (if any) melody in EDM. I prefer my music to have rhythm, harmony and melody, but there is more than one right way to make or enjoy music.

On the other hand, after doing enough research in EDM I have a better appreciation for it than I had when I only listened to it casually.

"that" doesn't make you old... that just Proves that you ARE old, and wise.

In fact, I just want BIAB to integrate more content. Just strengthen the drums. And electronic voice. Bass for dance music. Then the feeling of DJ dance music came out.
However, I prefer some Chinese classical pop music

In fact, as long as BIAB adds some drums and bass that focus on modern dance music, it is easy to make electronic dance music. It feels like Avenger and nexus
The biggest advantage of this is that BIAB can attract more young people.
In fact, dance music is easier than those guitars. The guitar must be played by a master. Dance music is not necessary.

I suppose it's BiaB's market share, but my EDM disk is one of my lowest selling style disks.

If it ever picks up, I'll do more.

The three best-selling genres for me are (1) rock (2) jazz and (3) Country, in that order.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
