Rock, folk, pop, jazz, funk, reggae all use breaks and bass pedals and holds and rests. It can make or break a song and features in all good tunes from Miles Davis to Bruno Mars.
Today this option is still very limited: one break, hold, rest per beat and the possibility to shift it by an 8th or 16th.
This last option sounds really bad in swing, shuffle or waltzes…
It needs to be adressed, I think. Check out all modern singer songwriters and folk and jazz from the fifties to today.

I do believe whenever possible it is helpful to provide specific suggestions how bass pedal, holds and rests can be improved.
It is also useful to provide specific song examples where the improvements would make a difference whenever possible.
Both suggestions are given with the intent that the additional information will help other forum members understand why the change is needed and how the improvement might be used.
The typical oye como va breaks should count, but Skate to me baby, Bruno Mars has some intricate breaks, too.

Sorry if you thought it irritated me, it was a sound suggestion from your part. I just thought the System of a down song was funny. It’s so wild it’s insane.
No offence at all! You and most other forum members have always been ready to offer advice and that is always cool..

Agree. So many genres start with a rest and if the music is complex, there can be more than one rest per bar. All options should be catered for. I'm glad I've found this post as I've spent hours trying to discover how to put rests into BiB and was getting so frustrated that I went back to Musescore even though I can't get the backing I want in that.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
