Hi Folks. Had been tinkering with this tune for some time. I feel if I do not post it, it will become one of those never ending projects that will soar my eyes and ears The idea behind it in my mind is appreciation of resilience. All comments are welcomed. Thank you for listening! Calling Your Name How many steps of the ladder broke under your foot? How many hopes are abandoned, dreams never pursued ? But they keep calling. From the depth of the ocean, Waiving invisible hands Rescuing from the prison of the night To draw our names on the sand How many scars, wounds and bruises Hiding under your shirt? Stubborn mind refuses Lighting up the fuse that's so short. But keeps on calling.. From the depth of the ocean, Waiving invisible hands Rescuing from the prison of the night To draw our names on the sand. How many doors in your castle? How many lead to brick walls? Trying to carry full vessel Barefoot, under the storm. While hearing voices From depth of the ocean From deserted dry lands From the stars that are prisoners of night, Calling your name. I'm glad you posted it. I enjoyed listening. First I thought the choice of drums were a wrong decision, but after listening for a while I actually concluded that they work pretty well with this kind of song. Nice!

The martial drums work really well...getting decent snare rolls is quite difficult so extra credit for that. The strings are lovely - I assume one side is you and the other BIAB...nice balance between them. Excellent ending too. Another terrific meditation Misha.

Your lyrics are so poetically beautiful. You have the holy trinity of a cool accent , great lyrics and inventive music . This particular song of yours appealed to my beaten up but never beaten doctrine and therefor it will be my future go to song whenever I am feeling particularly crestfallen. great song , well done. cheers Gary.

Man, that's what so much talent sounds like. I like what Gary said about it being his go-to song when crestfallen. That's a strong impact, brother. I really enjoy your poetic mind, Misha. Your lyrics should be collected and published in a book. You did an excellent job of putting all of those instruments into a well-balanced and interesting soundscape.

Will, Thank you for listening and your feedback. I thought that drum choice was strange choice too, but let it roll --- Ray, thank you for listening and commenting! Strings are BIAB (poorly mixed by me) --- Dave, Thank you for giving this time and your positive feedback here and on SC! --- Marty, Thank you for listening and your awesome feedback! "Your lyrics should be collected and published in a book." LOL From couple of hundred of tunes I wrote, I am only proud of about half a dozen of things. Misha,
Cinematic. From every angle. Cinematic lyric. Cinematic Soundscape - a film noir score. A commanding vocal.
The production is a 3-minute movie itself. Breathing. Ebbs and flows.
Beautiful.

Man, what a great production.
Your choice of tracks and the way they work together never ceases to amaze.
As fj says very cinematic. And we almost see a conductor with a score in front of your band. Kinda hard to parse out. The strings. accordion and drums are quite remarkable.
As Janice said "his dynamics always stand out." Yep!
"From the depth of the ocean, Waiving invisible hands Rescuing from the prison of the night To draw our names on the sand."
And the imagery? Well back to fj ...cinematic!
And your vocal is perfecto ... could not imagine it being sung by anyone else.
Kudos!

Echoing J&B: You have a knack for putting instrumentation together that creates such an original sound.
Love this one. You have really topped yourself.
Great vocal!
Lyric-wise, you are the forum's poet laureate.

Always unique. Always a journey I don't see coming. You make this sound easy and it makes me wonder if it is for you. I like it a lot!

Misha, this is your best to date IMHO.
You are a fantastic wordsmith; you write some of the most poetic songs. This one is a perfect example of that.
Super backing tracks and dynamics. Great vocal and mix.
Two big thumbs up for this masterpiece.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Surprisingly straightforward lyrics, something I can relate to, still looking for a door that doesn't lead to a brick wall, maybe one day... Love the marching drums (I wish BIAB had plenty of those as RDs), clever way to use tango RD for that rhythm. Other instruments create interesting flowing landscape and support the story nicely. Hi Misha,
I'm a little late with my reaction, but as Janne wrote to me "not too late, because I read it now". I hope you do to, because you are a very busy man, making nice songs with Ray.
Everyone here mentioned the epic character of the song and they are right. It has a lot to hear in it! A very very nice composition it is and very well performed by you. There was one moment, in the last chorus I believe, where it goes about how many doors in your castel and how many lead to brick walls (very nice sentences!) I almost heard children marching in, singing these lines. That would be the icing on the cake in this epic song!
Very well done, Misha,
Hans

Hello, 'Rustyspoon#'...
Whoa! I do believe you've reached some higher ground in this song. It's an imaginative, strikingly orchestrated musical composition with unexpected instrumental choices, and arranged in a manner that makes the track sound very dramatic. Your singing voice delivers the eccentric lyrics clearly with just a touch of mystery and irresolution that seems to be a recognizable feature of your productions. Truly, this is something different and exciting, 'Rustyspoon'! If I were you, I'd be quite pleased with myself.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
