Hi!

I have much more Real Tacks on my hard drive than I can see in the real tracks picker window. Any idea? I pressed update and rebuild several times. Files are stored in a different location but I set the path correctly. I use BiaB Mac 2009.5

Any idea?

Thanks a lot

Hi Elm,
Check to see if there is another Real Tracks folder nested in your original RT folder. It will have the same name as your Real Tracks Folder. "Real Tracks". I keep my RT's on an external drive. When installing my RT's, the installer created another folder within my designated RT folder. All of my additional files went there. If they are there, drag them out to your original RT folder. Rebuild and you're done.
Hope this helps.

Hi all!

Pretty much the same problem, but my tracks ARE in the RT folder. Yet they does not appear in the RT picker window. And what´s more; when I enable the box "Show Real Tracks that are N/A" some of them appear but when I pick one I get this message; Real Tracks #(then a number) not found. Applications Band in a Box/(the name of the track) not found.

What is happening?!

For a RealTracks to work, there needs to be 2 things present:

#1. The folder in the RealTracks folder, e.g. /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/RealTracks/Sax, Tenor Jazz Swing 140 folder
#2. The ST2 file in the Soloists folder. e.g. /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/Soloists/RSax.st2

if the message is #1 not found, then you either don't have the RealTracks installed, or you haven't pointed correctly to the RealTracks folder in RealTracks - Settings dialog.

if #2, then the ST2 file must not be in your folder, and something went wrong with the install, and you should look on the hard drive for ST2 and XT2 files, and move them the Soloists folder.

Hi Peter and thanks for helping me.

Well, as I said; everything is there! About 10 GB of real tracks are in the real tracks folder, but BIAB do not find them. With real drums there isn´t a problem, all works fine.

And how do I "point correctly" to the real tracks folder?! Is it not enough just to choose a real track?!

- If your RealTracks folder is contained within the BB folder (the default), then it will be found automatically. If that is the case, you should delete (or rename) your /Band-in-a-Box/Preferences folder, and see if the problem is corrected.

- If you are using a custom RealTracks folder, on another drive for example, then you need to tell BB where it is, by pressing RealTracks button, then choosing RealTracks Settings. In that dialog, enter the folder location that yo uare using.

- If you are still haaving problerms, press the Rebuild button in the RealTracks Assign dialog, and you will see information about any errors in RealTracks installation. Copy and paste them here in this thread if that is the case.

>>> About 10 GB of real tracks are in the real tracks folder, but BIAB do not find them.

If you have all of the RealTrascks installed, this would be sbout 90GB. So you have about 10% of the total RealTracks that are available. BB should find those 10% of course, but the other 90% are not present.

Hi again, Peter!

Well, the problem is solved, thank goodness! And that was an easy one...

I got confused about Real Tracks and Styles. Sorry about that! Sadly it took me a few days to discover that.

In the window "Select Style Prototype Style", the drop-down menu at "Disk #" showed for some reason "#10 Rock/Pop". So all the styles I saw in the window were from disk #10, and that ain´t too many.

When I turned it to "Show all styles disk" I got a whole bunch of styles and Real Tracks The "missing" ones...

Now, I`ve been fooling around a bit with BIAB, and must say that I`m highly impressed with it. In a few seconds I get a full orchestral accompaniment to my songs - and it sounds wonderful!

It annoys me that I didn´t purchase BIAB 10 years ago.

Thanks for all your efforts; I really appreciated that!

Best Regards
Amissima

Hi, Peter!

Thanks for your tips, but no relief :-(

Now I found out, it's just the real tracks of the brand new sets 72-77 I just purchased that do not appear in the real tracks picker. I even re-installed the files without any result. Are these sets 72-77 somehow incompatible with BiaB 2009.5 build 8?

Any other tip?

Thanks
Elm

Hello Elm,

You need to download the "8b" update for Band-in-a-Box:

The last statement fixed my brand new Pro setup, BIAB was auto-started before I had installed all the real tracks, so they weren't all showing in the style picker (less than 20 were showing, the bonus registration ones I think).

I was trying to follow a tutorial and BLUGRAS style wasn't showing, I googled around a bit and finally found this solution.
After rebuilding it's all good, 200 odd real styles showing including BLUGRAS.

So thanks! And maybe my reply here helps someone else. laugh

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
