Trying to create a video of a BIAB executing a song but I get a file with zero bytes. Hardly the first time I've done this, I've created several dozen video backing tracks this way over the past year. Last time maybe 6 weeks ago?
It's a simple process: 1) Right click on the "Save As" button, 2) Choose "Save as Video ...", 3) Hit "OK Render Video", 4) Point to the location I want the file and give it a name.
It seems to execute all this, takes about 45 seconds for a 3 minute song and everything seems to complete successfully. But then Windows File Manager doesn't see the file. The part of File Manager that shows recent file shows the song file where I pointed, but with zero bytes.
Tried this on a couple of songs, rebooted and re-tried, all no joy. I'm running the latest version of BIAB 2021 Audiophile on the same Lenovo laptop (W10) I've been using for 4 years. Not sure if there's been an update of BIAB since I did this last and we all suffer through Windows updates. If someone's got a minute to try this let me know if this function still works for you.
I tried and it worked for me OK, but only with video when I selected the IYUV codec. Otherwise I got sound but black screen. It did definitely produce a sizeable file (with audio) though with every option I tried.
BIAB & RB2024 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
On the coat tails of what VideoTrack said, you may need to experiment with your codec. One of the options available should work for you, but if not, you're welcome to e-mail us at support@pgmusic.com and we're happy to try and figure out what's going on for you.
Thanks VT, I tried all the codecs presented (CVSM/VUYI/024i/divc/auto) and I'm still creating 0 length files. I'll now avail myself to the help generously offered by Ember at PG.
I am having the same problem running biab 2022 on Windows 10.
The audio renders but no chord sheet video is produced. I tried manually inserting some h264 video codec files in the system 32 directory but that didn't work. Could you recommend the best procedure for getting video codec files into my machine?
I believe the program is looking for a file located in a folder labeled bb\Data\VJT. You may not have the file or folder unless you have a +++ Video RealTrack +++ set.
I suspect the files that support recording the chord sheet were consolidated into the Video RealTracks folder in 2017.

Strange. For me it worked with below option ONLY!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
