Hello,

I googled so much and viewed a lot of videos belongs to BIAB, but I have absolutely no clue, how BIAB works on the end.

My aim is
- pick/load a style (or melody)
- after loading a style immedely play completely improvised with my hardware keyboard(s) like a hardware keyboard/workstation with build in auto
accompanient
- not using extra midi files (or waves) in my DAW
- not input any chords/notes, cause I would only improvise (so I don't no in advance, which chords/notes I will use)

Is BIAB on the end not a "ready-to-play-solution"?

If I select a style (or melody) I hear the style only by pressing the play buttons in BIAB. My hardware keyboards (also the keyboard of my DAW) are connected through BIAB (I hope so), but nothing "happens"/starts if I play on the hardware keyboards.

Is there a workflow belongs to "My aim is" to get it work?

1:
I think you are asking if BiaB can work as an Arranger keyboard. I believe the answer to that question is No.
The first three aims appear more-or-less OK, but BiaB must know the chords in advance. You mentioned:
"- not input any chords/notes, cause I would only improvise (so I don't no in advance, which chords/notes I will use)".

2:
It is possible to start BiaB Playback from a MIDI keyboard. Check out the Conductor Window, as seen below:

BIAB creates music from the chords you enter. As VideoTrack says it's not like a sophisticated arranger keyboard or simple keyboard with auto accompaniment. If that is what you are after, BIAB can't help. You can get your money back within 30 days of purchase, or you can learn how to use BIAB which is a hugely powerful program creating whole songs from the chords you enter, but won't do what you are trying to do.

I hope you discover the real pleasure working in BIAB that thousands of musicians of all levels have found.

Hello @VideoTrack and @Bob Calver

thanks a lot for your response/your information.

Indeed, BIAB seems today not be the solution I'm looking for.
It's more related to song writers or entertainers in order to play full songs (or parts of it) without any varitions/improvsing (besido solo instruments).

Why BIAB don't provides such function after so many years of development; I have no idea.

sorry Creator1962 but BIAB is exactly what you describe - it's an auto accompaniment package that creates complete songs based on chord progressions you enter. many users do solo/improvise over tracks they create but on a solo instrument.

BIAB is what it is and many years of development have made it a leader in its field rather than something it has never aspired to be

i suggest you try and get your money back with the 30 day guarantee

I'm not sure that the O/P has already purchased. I surmised that he/she was researching what the program would do, and if it could work as an arranger keyboard. But yes, the refund option is available if they wished.

from the online manuals https://www.pgmusic.com/manuals/
Automatic Songs – “The Melodist”
https://www.pgmusic.com/manuals/bbw2021full/chapter9.htm#automatic-songs-the-melodist

this would create an autamatic song in different styles with the melody muted if you like

Biab can be made to work as a Live Arranger the same as Reaper as I gave PG the info !
I got it all working with Reaper by using tracks from Biab or better still the BiabVST Plugin:

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
