I have a friend who also wants to buy band in a box under my introduction.
But he wants to know when to buy it.
Because 2022 is coming.
So when will band in a box 2022 be launched?

Yes, as Steve said. In some recent years, perhaps that window was a little longer into December. Past practice is not a guarantee of future performance, however if you purchase within 30 days of the new release, you have always in the past been eligible to request a free upgrade. Again, no guarantees, but PG Music as a company is the fairest to its customers that I know.

Please note, we are only fellow customers here and have no official knowledge about this.

Historically the new version of Band-in-a-Box for Windows is released around winter time, but of course we cannot guarantee this for the upcoming release. We will send out emails and post in the forums when the new Windows version is available.

Depending on where you live grin

Historically, as mentioned early December has been a fairly consistent release date.

Hah, well it won't be winter for you that's for sure! It's easy to forget that sometimes, given that only 10% of the world's population lives on your half of the planet...

Historically, the earliest date BIAB for Windows was released was November 24th, and the latest was December 8th - technically this is late fall, although here in Canada we can get winter weather anytime from September to June.

I don't care when it comes out just make it as bug free as possible.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

No, I'm usually on a Gold Coast beach when Biab is released smile
My Dad was in Canada but it was too cold so he said 'I'll go over to Vancouver Island and put my foot in the water and if it's too cold I'll move to Australia'.
The only problem at the moment it's gone back to a convict colony.

I guess he found the ocean. He should've tried one of our lakes, those are much warmer.

For Windows, yes, in previous years it has been launched in December, but you never know!

Hauling my boat and dock out tomorrow (for Winter, not Summer), so I'm ready for BIAB 2022.

Winter? Is that another one of those arcane BIAB terms?

We only have two seasons, summer and road construction.

To be fair, our ocean beaches don't typically have sharks either.

Or if you're a British-Irish-Scottish-Canadian in Florida there's only one season - sunburn crazy

A friend in Sweden once commented that they didn't really have a summer, they had a white winter and a green winter.

Winter in Florida is when thousands of Canadians come down to stay in either RV Resorts or motels, and spring is when thy go back home. *

We play at a RV Resort that hosts about 600 Canadian RVs all winter and another 300 USA travelers. The Canadians are mostly from Quebec, and they are a great audience.

I'm glad the border is reopened, it'll be good to see some old friends again.

Notes ♫

* Winter is also the dry season. The rainy season usually runs from mid-May to mid-October, the rest of the year is mostly fair and dry. Winter is also our big gigging season.

A couple of years before the Pandemic, Mrs. Notes and I decided to spend some time in Quebec. (BTW, McGill University in Montreal has a great student symphony orchestra and the choir in Notre-Dame is as good as it gets anywhere).

When we crossed the border into Canada, the border guard asked why we were visiting Canada. I told him we were entertainers, we gigged at an RV park where hundreds of French Canadians spend the winter, and we wanted to bring some of your money back. He had a good sense of humor, there was no line behind us, so we chatted a while and then had a nice time in Montreal and Quebec City.

Regarding the original question, I personally am wary of getting any new release of just about any software from any company until the initial bugs and wrinkles are sorted out.

As an example, for my main working environment, I use the extra-stable "long term support" version of a Linux. That version is released a few months after the "normal" parent version, and even then I normally wait a few weeks more before committing to it, just in case. But then I used to earn my living on that platform and couldn't afford to waste lots of time fixing broken systems.

If one wants to try all the new goodies of any software, go for a new release but anticipate bugs and updates; If one wants better stability and fewer updates, perhaps get the older version first and wait for a while before getting the newest.

trouble is the 'older version' won't be available at the special price but as we've all said, we are expecting a raft of fixes if 2022 is like 2021!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
