I would have never thought in a million years to combine these two musical forms, but you were creative and imaginative enough to do so. I think the results were pretty cool, maybe the vocal could have been a little louder. I bet Redbone wishes they had done this. Big bonus points for the creativity. I wonder what kind of reaction this would get at a gathering of Nations.

Works well!

Interesting mix of styles that work really really well together!

I think it sounds great. Vocal could maybe come up a little in the mix, doesn't need much though.

Loved the ending also.

Well done!

Outstanding, bluage. I have some Susquehannock blood running through me, and instinctively chant (most often just in my head). This is a wonderful mix of the blues and chants, both primal expressions from our soul. The gospel singers also bring in another primal urge. The sax solo was unexpected. A very creative idea mixing these together, and, man, you really filled it with a fun band of musicians. Did you try a flute instead of the baritone? You probably did because you obviously spent some quality time on this and crafted a masterpiece.

Enjoy whatever happens!

This is both original and aboriginal at the same time laugh Interesting combination of different styles.

Very nice use of all those percussions, effects add nicely to the mood. The singing reminds me of yoiks by the Sámi people in Nothern Finland (also the sleigh bells add Northern feeling).

I really enjoyed hearing your chanting on this forum smile

Hello, 'Tunemonger'...

Thank you very much for listening, commenting, and suggesting an improvement, which I made by increasing the volume of the first part of the vocal track.

I, too, wonder how the song would be received by 'Native American' listeners, mostly because I don't know what the sampled voices are saying, and neither did the owner of the Q-Up Arts website.

'dcuny'...

I didn't think to combine these these types of music until twenty years after I came up with the improvised chant. What happened eventually was that I heard the sound of the 'blues' in the chant, and Band-in-the-Box helped me flesh-out the sound I wanted.

Thank you for taking time to audition this production!

Dear 'BabuMusic'...

Wow! Thanks for the enthusiastic comments. I didn't think to try-out any solo instruments other than the baritone sax because it had the 'gutsy', slow-drag sound I wanted to hear.

Wow Bluage! This is a way cool combo that had Janice dancing and singing along through several listens.

We both have a long standing love of Native American culture and also, as you know, the blues so we can only say this is the coolest mashup we've ever heard!

Simply conceiving of this is amazing enough but to put it all together and enable it to sound so convincing is genius.

The chants sound authentically soulful and the ahs were an excellent addition. The blues tracks were excellent and the fade was great.

So again ... wow!

Hi Bluage,

O!M!G!

What an incredible fusion of sounds and styles.

The creativity behind this is immense. I love, love, love your vocals and the production is magnificent. Perfect in fact (for my ears at least).

I'm sitting here mesmerized by just how extraordinary this work is.

You've gone places that would never occur to me ever!

Brilliant.

All the best,

I used to teach on a reservation and have attended at good number of pow-wows and other events there. The chant sounds close to the ones I've heard. Clever fusing of styles. I've got a Native American flute that I play, well dabble in playing, that I want to include on one of my songs. That'll be when I find the right fit.

Loren,
Sorry, late for the party. I listened a few days ago, but wanted one more spin before I replied.
I have heard quite a few Native chant fusion musical pieces, Rock, pop, techno.. but never heard one with blues flavor!
A+ for originality. Wonderful idea and production and quite authentic chant technique. Listens very well. Liked it. Thank you for sharing this rare piece.

Misha.

Hey Loren ...

Not only are you a master of creative and fantastic verbiage, but also of musical experimentation. I found it amazing how certain music concepts reach fruition. This is one of the most original tunes I've ever heard ... and what a true pleasure to listen to. I spend a lot of time mixing/combining genres and styles and loved when it all works out. This worked out just fine!

So glad to hear something from your studio! Take care and be safe ...

Alan
