I wrote this song exactly one week after our first granddaughter was born.
She turned 16, recently and she is a fine young lady who does love the Lord.
I am very proud of her. I hope this blesses you guys and you can relate it to someone in your life. Mike

Savannah's song

Music and lyrics by Mike Wilhoit

https://youtu.be/FciGMX4Kemo

It happened just a week ago, you came into this world
A beautiful and healthy baby girl
I pray a life of promise before you awaits
A life of walking with the Lord everyday

Savannah, my granddaughter, for you I pray
That you’ll grow up to be a woman of faith
Savannah, for the One who gives us life
Keep the light of His love in your eyes

I pray that you will grow up to love with all your heart
The King of Glory, maker of the stars
I pray that you will love His Word, in it you’ll abide
And like the stars in Heaven – you’ll let His light shine

Savannah, my granddaughter, for you I pray
That you’ll grow up to be a woman of faith
Savannah, for the One who gives us life
Keep the light of His love in your eyes

Savannah, my granddaughter, for you I pray
That you’ll grow up to be a woman of faith
Savannah, for the One who gives us life
Keep the light of His love in your eyes
Keep the light of His love in your eyes

Our first granddaughter (Charley) just turned 7 two days ago. I played this for her and she loved it, too. A wonderful mix and a beautiful song to begin Savannah's life.

Enjoy whatever happens!

The backing is solid and the melody is quite nice with clear phrasing and decent diction...well done.
The narrative worried me though: you only want one thing for the subject of the song.

Cheers

Ray, thank you for the feedback. I appreciate you listening. The one thing I want for her is a close walk with the Lord. The rest will fall into place as He works in her to will and do for His good pleasure. God bless you! Mike

Thanks for the response but it doesn't make me any more comfortable.
"The rest will fall into place as He works in her to will and do for His good pleasure." If you remove each H and replace it with h you may more precisely see the problem I have with the narrative.
Again, nice band and melody with a confident delivery.

Mike...I am getting my first granddaughter in the next month or two...my daughter is adopting a set of 9 year old twins (boy and girl)...they actually have had them for 3 years but the adoption should be complete by Christmas (hopefully as the Lord wills)...her name is Peyton and my desire for her is like that which you have for Savannah.

I really like the song and I get it...the "He" with a capital "H" is both one subject and all subjects at the same time...sometimes scriptural references and quotes are pearls (you know) and not always valued as they should be...anyway, the song is just what a grand father should say and sing to his precious little ones...really like the track and your voice is always so mellow and pleasant.

Just as a point of preference I'm not a fan of instruments panned hard to one side or another...to me (and this is just my opinion which I don't even pay much attention to that often) it makes it sound like their offstage IMO...however it does keep the mix from being cluttered in the middle...take that for what it's worth...but really clean and a great listen...Dan

First, praise the Lord for the twins that your daughter is adopting. You will love having a granddaughter. I have two sons but my oldest one has 4 daughters. Two of them are theirs biologically and two are adopted, as well. They are full blooded family members, now!
On the panning issue, I actually have become a fan of it. I didn't use that method until the past year. I watched a lot of music recording videos on Youtube and LCR panning is frequently recommended. I do like how it helps make each instrument stand out. One of the tips I read is that each instrument should be heard so that the mother of the musician could pick out her son or daughter's part.
Thanks for your comments on Savannah's song and especially the 'capital H' issue. Take care, my brother. Mike

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
