Hi,
I hope that someone can help me with this.
I upgraded to BIAB Ultra at the start of the year, and it has been fine since. Last week it told me to activate it, and that some features were blocked. I thought it strange, but went ahead and activated it. This did't work, and it said that the program can only be used on one machine. Well, it is only on one machine and always has been. I immediately thought that PG Music has been hacked and my number used elsewhere. I contacted support and they told me to delete all the ticket files and reinstall version 845, which I did. Now when I open BIAB it can't find the ticket file, obviously because I deleted it. They then said reinstall version 845, again I did this with no result. I even backdated to 844, and that didn't work either. They then said activate offline and send them the serial number, this didn't work, because it is still looking for the ticket file. It seems to me that nothing is going to happen until the ticket file is replaced. Initially, I went to the bin and restored the ticket file, but it no longer works. I feel like I'm getting nowhere with tech help. Does anyone know the solution to this?

I don’t know. I’ve never heard of this before.

What is puzzling is that you get 30 days to activate, but you report you ran for months before getting the message. I assume you ran BIAB at least once after the first 30 days, yes?

You might try Run as Administrator, a good idea anyway but I doubt it will help here. Also, could you post the exact error message? That might give us a clue.

Hi Torq2, please go to the C:\Users\Public\Ticket and send us a screenshot of what is in this folder. That way we can see if there is anything left that should be deleted, or if there was something that was accidentally deleted, but should not have been. It would be best to send it to us directly via the email thread you had already established for this issue because it involves your serial number and serials should not be shared over the public forums.

What happens fairly often is that a Windows update will cause BIAB to think it's on a "new" computer. Updates sometimes change a UUID that Band-in-a-Box uses to identify a computer, which suddenly makes the verification fail. Not usually a problem - reactivating does the trick.

We've been working with Torq2 directly to solve this issue. In this particular case, reactivating didn't do the trick, nor did removing Ticket files or offline activation, so we've manually generated the activation files for him and provided instructions on where to put the files - hopefully that'll work! Torq2 is away for a bit, but when he returns we hope to get some good news.

Hi All,

Sorry I didn't reply, but I had to go away for a few days.

As Simon say's, he sent me a bin file and I put it in the BB folder, and now it is working fine.

Thanks for your help.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
