Hello, forum friends

I would like to post a song by Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku for the first time in a while.
In order to post the song, I asked the arrangement and production to a junior member of the same music circle.
I made a demo sound source by BIAB and sent it to her.
She recreated it using only MIDI, and sent it back to me.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Title: 星に願いを (Translation: Wishing Upon A Star)
Vocal: 初音ミク (Hatsune Miku, Vocaloid)

Link of MIDI Version:

All the accompaniment played with Cubase built-in VST instruments
Except Piano played with Ivory The Grand(Steinway) and Harp played with EastWest Symphonic Orchestra
Scored and Produced by Lis, my music friend

Link of Demo version by BIAB:

Summary of lyrics:

Please come towards where you hear clapping hands
Nostalgic scent is there
Please take me again to the place we first met

I closed my wounds while killing my heart
My wish is only one
Please forget me and don't forget me

Please take me again to the place we first met

When the stars fall and disappear
The night secretly fulfills someone's wishes

Please take me again to the place we first met

Please come towards where you hear clapping hands
Nostalgic scent is there

I gave the demo version a listen 1st...nice work building your template.
The MIDI version is a little more lively though it threatens to absorb Miku on occasion.
Well written, well arranged and well performed - AS USUAL.

I did wonder if you're ever tempted to do a Baby Metal version of your songs sometime...the Vocaloid caused me to wonder even more so.

Cheers

Very nice, Shigeki Adachi. I like the development and your explanation. To me this shows how good this software is. Maybe I didn't give the MIDI version enough consideration, but my ears overrode my desire. (The piano sounds great and Lis did a brilliant job.) The BiaB demo is so much more pleasing. You know I am a big fan of what you do, and this song is another that deserves respect. Hatsune Miku sounds superb. Thank you for posting and showing us examples.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Great melody that kept my interest throughout the piece. The MIDI is very good. Excellent work as usual.

The Vocaloid continues to fascinate me. It sounds real to me. Maybe I should duet with a Vocaloid sometime.

I liked both versions, I don't prefer one over the other.

Beautiful melody and arrangement.

Hi Shigeki,

This is a lovely song - good lyrics and well sung.

Also - you have done a lot of work on the production and mix and everything sounds great.

Well done
Best Regards
Nigel

Lis did a fantastic job with this! The Vocaloid is a bit too bright for my taste, but that's not something you've got control over. (Eventually I hope to convince you to try SynthV out).

I'd have also gone with more of a '70s dampened 'tea towel' snare sound, since it fits the style a bit better.

But that's just me being super-picky, since everything else is great. laugh

Honestly, it's hard to hear the BiaB version after Lis' arrangement. It's fine, but very generic.

After hearing it at the slower tempo, the BiaB version feels rushed.

A very pleasant song, and a wonderful arrangement.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I would like to try a Baby Metal version of my songs some day.
But before that, I need to learn more about Baby Metal.

Best regards.

David,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
And many thanks for listening to the both versions.
I am really glad you like this tune and Lis's Arrangement.

I always much appreciate your precious advices.
I visited the site of '70s dampened 'tea towel' snare sound.
These sounds are no longer used now, but I also liked them very much at the time.
I would like to try to use it again if I have the opportunity.
I would also like to try to use SynthV in my works from the next time onwards.
I am very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
