Hi Folks. I hope I can explain this clearly. Is there a simple way to "restart" bar "motion" at a different beat of same bar?
The analogy would be if lets say if first Beat of the Bar would be looped to be exact as from the start (same motion), and repeated for 3 Beats and released at the 4th Beat.
I am sure, given complexity of BIAB it is possible through some sort of a workaround, but is it possible to do it more or less straight forward way? Hope is not to do it through unconventional manual rendering, chopping, saving as performance track, etc.
Thank you.

To the best of my knowledge playback always starts on beat 1.

Jim thanks, I think I figured it out! I took 3 bars, set 2 of them to 1 Beat at Bar setting and the last one to 2 beats and copied the chords. Works!
I forgot about this trick. I believe Charlie or Matt explained this once to me.
P.S. What I do not understand now, is why after setting a single bar to have X number of beats, all bars after that follow same number of beats, unless manually changed at the next bar. A bug or by design?

Glad you figured it out. I believe the staying at number of beats per bar until you reset the beats is by design. My understanding it works that way to make it easier to combine time signatures for instance if a song is a mixture of 4/4 and 2/4.
I was aware of being able to change the number of beats per bar but I never thought about using it the way you're describing.

Jim, not exactly a straight forward way, but simple enough. I liked the first phrase on first beat and want it to repeat to fit the tune I am working on. Surprisingly, it worked out better than expected.
P.S. Some crazy articulations are achievable by using Micro Chords and method I described above.

Completely unable to understand what is expressed. But now I absorb all kinds of knowledge and nutrition like a sponge. If there is a video, it will let me know at a glance. ha-ha

No video, but here is explanation: Imagine, each beat of the bar sound slightly different. Lets represent it by letters abcd efgh ijkl mnop = 1 bar. I wanted it to be exact for 3 beats and resolved on fourth. So a new 4 beat "bar" would sound something like abcd, abcd, abcd, mnop. In DAW, you will cut first "beat" copy->paste it 3 times and end it with fourth. BIAB is a different animal and workflow is different. Since I usually stay within BIAB until about 1/2 of arrangement is complete, only then move it to DAW, I wanted a way to do it within BIAB. Right click on any bar of the chord sheet, you will see option to be able to change how many beats that bar has. So essentially, that is how "repeat" of the first phrase is achieved. - by making a 1 beat bar and placing desired chord in the cell. and duplicating this for as many "repeats" you want. Not a straight forward way, but simple enough. After the "repeats" are done, you have to set next bar to "default" - whatever that number is of beats, or the rest of arrangement will remain at 1 beat per bar. That is by design. P.S. My sincere advice to you, take it slower. BIAB is a complex software. There is a lot of stuff to memorize and learn if you decide to invest your time into it. I doubt a sporadic approach will be beneficial, unless you have very good memory.., which you absolutely might have. Or unless you are hunting down specific features.. I am fourth year into BIAB, I still feel like a schoolboy compared to some gurus here. I find process of learning through experimenting is the most rewarding one.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
