Hello guys,

We've been away for some years.
Long story short: We moved to a new place, but because of the renovation we had to go to a holiday park for 7 months.

We've been working on a Leonard Cohen program (completely finished by now). It contains 20 songs and several videos. The music of most songs was done with BIAB but.... we are not "officially" allowed to post them because these are covers. We had a good thing going until corona.
And, Rob is very busy making add-ons for Dragon® (well-known speech recognition program) which takes most of his time.

But we decided to come back to the forum because we got some new work to share smile. Some new BIAB songs and projects. Both songs that Rob and I created, as well as some projects I did for my (Anne-Marie's) vocal group.

This month we'll start with our usual "Musical Christmas Card" as we call it. We send it to relatives and friends, therefore it is in Dutch.
For your listening pleasure we translated the lyrics to English (they might still seem a bit weird, but when you watch the video you'll understand)

Season's Greetings

Steek eerst alle lichtjes aan First turn on all the lights
maak het dak sneeuwvrij clear the roof of snow
Kind’ren rijden op een slee, Children ride on a sleigh
die horen er echt bij they really belong here
Laat de sneeuw maar vallen, Let the snow fall
dat kleurt de straten wit it turns the streets white
samen met die straatlantaarns along with those street lamps
is dat een mooi gezicht it looks very nice

Zet wat muzikanten Put some musicians
op de hoek van deze straat on the corner of this street
een paard met koets en veel publiek a horse with carriage and a lot of audience
We kijken door een raam We look through a window
Dat ziet er gezellig uit That looks cosy
We blijven niet te lang We won't stay too long
want er is iets aan de gang because something is going on

Een grote kerstboom staat al daar A big Christmas tree is already there
middenop het plein in the middle of the square
Daar moeten dan lichtjes in There should be some lights
wel een paar dozijn quite a few dozen
Hij’s groter weer dan vorig jaar It's bigger again than last year
en als de lichtjes branden and when the lights are on
en mensen komen bij elkaar and people come together
dan is onze kerstkaart klaar our Christmas card is ready

We'll be back in 2022!

Rob and Anne-Marie

Being born and raised in Ontario, I have a lot of fond memories of going out and going for sleigh rides to sing holiday carols, and they were always trying to make these events on the farm bigger and better each year. I remember the even had an inflatable snow globe you could walk around the inside of at one point. Your song definitely gave me some serious nostalgia, so thank you for sharing it!

Cheers,
Ember

Welcome back!

You have created a new Christmas carol.

Excellent song only it could be a lot longer!

Two thumbs up.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Welcome back. Always enjoyed your compositions.

A pretty song, with cute accompaniment, albeit quite short.

No doubt bigger and better things from you in 2022.

Welcome back, Rob and Anne-Marie. This is such a beautiful song. Although I love the sound of the Dutch language, I am grateful for the translation. It's strange for me to say welcome back since I wasn't here before when you were. Now I have the pleasurable task of hearing the rest of what you have on YouTube. Merry Christmas, and thanks so much for this gift.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hoi Rob en Anne-Marie,

wat een verrassing: een kerstmis liedje op z'n Hollands - dat had ik echt niet verwachtt - echt leuk, hoor.

Very nice tune, beautifully sung and sounding exactly like such a Christmas tune should. Liked that video a lot.

Thanks for coming back and sharing.

Stay safe,

Stefan

Welkom terug!

That song and video are fantastic! You did a great job capturing so much of holiday in such a short time. May I ask where the visuals from the video come from? Everything looks and sounds so professional.

Great job!

Anne-Marie & Rob ...

I was just thinking about you two late last week - hoping you would return to the forum soon. And presto - here you are! I have missed all the wonderful music you make and share with us. I am so much looking forward to your new posts next year!

Very nice song and video! Although I speak decent German (kind of), I speak no Dutch whatsoever. But I enjoy hearing songs in other languages. I watch "The Voice' from countries all around the world, on You Tube, every chance I get.

So nice to hear from you again!

Merry Christmas to both of you...

Alan

Thank you Andi for your nice words.
We didn't make the video ourselves. Years ago there was a website called "Magical Christmas" with some of these videos. We downloaded some of them, so for the years to come we have some nice "Christmas cards". laugh
However the site seems to have disappeared, we couldn't find it anymore.

Hey y'all, great to hear from you and hear a RnAM song.

Sounds like you have been busy indeed.

What a nice short and sweet tune to return with!

Fine vocals, backing tracks and all work very well with the video.

Enjoyed it and look forward to more.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
