First song for 2022.

After another year for Covid and lock downs my mind searches for memories of the past when getting together and having fun was just an everyday thing.

So lets dive into 2022.

And Away We Go

Decided to duet with my synth. Mom would not let me drag a B3 and Leslie into the house so had to make do.

Band:
873 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm ModernRnBRockFunkyOffbeat Ev 065
3331 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm JazzyPop16thsMark Ev16 080
Organ - N A 2692 Organ, Rhythm ModernPopSlowMike Ev 075
Bass - N A 1398 Bass, Electric, Soul70sA-B Ev16 100
Drums - RealDrums=SouthernPop16RnB^07-a Hat, Sidestick, b Ride, Snare2
Used some the Real Charts from the DAW plugin to add some different midi effects to the drums, bass and keyboard Real Tracks.

Guitar Lead: Gretsch - Double Mic'd
Guitar Slide: Les Paul - Double Mic'd
Synth: Atom SQ and Presence
Organ: Arturia Minilab and Analog Lab V
Presonus Rotor Plugin.
Mixed and Mastered in Studio One 5

Nice modern take on 60s instrumentals.

That synth part is other worldly---quite a pleasing contrast to the preceding lower register guitar part (which I loved).

I enjoyed the voice-ish synth (not to be confused with a synth voice).

Scott...great way to start the new year...I'm just guessing at how much technical work you must have put into this and I'm amazed...very ethereal and very "theremin-esque" (I made that word up) with the synth voices...your guitar work is always stellar and worth the wait...so for 2022 "Away We Go" right?

Hi, Scott.

Enjoyed the sounds. As firesong noted, bits of it were "theremin-esque".

Mellow tune. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hey Man, You're a talented guy. Listened to a couple of your songs and I'm impressed with your singing voice! I could only wish to have a voice like yours. The recordings were super clean too. We use the same DAW, Studio One 5. Pretty sold on Presonus and I love BIAB! Thanks, I enjoyed listening!

Yes "theremin-esque" is the perfect way to describe the synth part. Super chops on that axe! Excellent song.

The voice-like synth work reminds me of Vangelis soundtrack for Blade Runner (Seems like a lot of synth work reminds me of Blade Runner). Guitar had its own mystical coolness as well. Nice job!

Scott,

A really nice piece. Good use of the synth.

Nice tone, as usual. So "clean", so precise...

Good mix. Good listen. Beautiful.

Thanks David It was your vox song that got me researching the midi key patches. Got me playing the keyboards again. Thanks for that. Glad you liked the song..

Hi Scott,

You told me you were busy making a song, so I didn't expect it was already done.
You made a very nice song and I was surprised about those beautiful vocals halfway!
Now I understand why you didn't ask me to do the singing in your song...

Hands down this is a very strong composition and guitar play, Scott.
I enjoyed it!

Hans

Something nice and different from you even the guitar sound.

Impressive keyboard work and a nice overall vibe.

Hope 2022 is kind to us all.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
