I load a style (MIDI only, no Real) then add some chords and tell it to generate a song. Now I would like to export one of the tracks (guitar) to my DAW but I can't get it to work. I'm using BIAB 2022 UltraPak on Windows 10/64.
If I select Clipboard in MIDI export section I don't get anything transferred to my DAW. If I click and drag from a track at top of the BIAB window to my DAW nothing gets dragged. It just shows the circle with a diagonal line through it showing that I can't drag anything out of the BIAB track. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to activate something in preferences first in order for it to work?
Thanks!

Try dragging it to the 'MID' item in the DAW drop-zone first, and then drag it from there to your DAW:

As soon as I click on the radio button I get the circle with the diagonal line. How do I get around that problem? One of the BIAB videos on YouTube shows it working, but I can't get it to work.

Don't worry about that. Drag the track to the mid window as AT suggested, click on the DAW window, open your DAW, click on the + and drag it to your DAW.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

OK MarioD, great instructions. I tried what you said and it works, but now it works too well. When I drag from the + sign into my DAW it doesn't drag only the guitar track, it drags ALL of the tracks into a single MIDI track. So, the guitar track sounds all jumbled. How do I get it to drag ONLY the guitar track?
I think I don't understand the meaning of the color of each track. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

I think you can also drag on the 'MID' button (wherever you landed before) and drag that to your DAW. Check things such as Tempo etc are setup in your DAW to match the incoming material before you drag. Perhaps this assists also.

hate to argue with Mario who has forgotten more than i'll ever know but don't drag from the plus sign. when you drag the radio button of the chosen midi track to the drop zone midi segment, it will turn green. drag the green box not the plus sign.

that just worked fine for me.
Yep Bob. That's exactly the way I do it also.

That's interesting. When I choose one track and drag it to the mid window and then in DAW mode drag from the plus sign to either my DAW or my desktop I get only that one track. The only time I get everything is when I drag the master to the mid window.
I just tried it your way and that works also.
I wonder why my way doesn't work for you.

maybe the drag and drop settings are diferent? under hte options -DawPLugin - settings mine are here but can't see what might afffect single midi files
Good thought. Here are my settings. The only difference is I do not have drag master track as audio checked. I can not see how that would make a difference.
This is weird!

maybe the + symbol is exporting the midi files as audio and that's what's playing? would explain why the OP gets all the instruments playing - maybe they are playing as audio not MIDI?
anyway we've all got it to work for what we want it to do

Right. But after working in research for almost 40 years these anomalies have a propensity to drive me

OK, I don't know what has changed since my original post (I didn't change anything myself) but it seems to be working better now. What is strange is that when I drag directly from the radio button on the track name on top of the window it doesn't work but when I drag first to the MID tab on the left of the screen and then from the + sign to my DAW, it seems to work.
Thanks to all for the information. BIAB is an unbelievably great program and the user forum is fantastic!

Add updated printing options, enhanced tracks settings, smoother use of MGU and SGU (BB files) within PowerTracks, and more with the latest PowerTracks Pro Audio 2024 update!
Download and install this to your RealBand 2024 for updated print options, streamlined loading and saving of .SGU & MGU (BB) files, and to add a number of program adjustments that address user-reported bugs and concerns.
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
