This is a parody country song with a fat-bottomed girl in a Conway Twitty T-shirt.

Instruments BIAB. _UPNOVER.STY

It was another hot Saturday night
the yellow moon was shining just right
for our weekly square dance and slug fest
I was dancing with a pretty girl
And got too frisky during her twirl
not mindful of her lurking boyfriend
He planned to make her his wife
and cut me with a switchblade knife
I'm not sure I’ll be seeing her again

Bandage on my arm I returned to dance
with a roll of quarters in my pants
At least that’s what I said when asked
Promenaded left as the caller said
Dancing with a partner who was too well-fed
Saw my buddies laughing at my plight
Allamande left then right and left grand
That was the point when I dropped her hand
And begged off claiming recent loss of blood

I returned so I could do-si-do
A fat-bottomed girl said she was good to go
She was wearing a Conway Twitty t-shirt
I squared up and did a quick sashay
Found an excuse so I could get away
But I was blocked by her big legged girlfriend
The caller yelled out “Now box the gnat”
I told the girls I need to grab my hat
And made a dash for the nearest doorway

Sitting in the parking lot with a luke-warm beer
Wondering what the hell I’m doing here
Realizing small towns are all much the same
Found the bullies ride, a brand new Jeep
I relieved myself on the driver’s seat
Without his knife he wouldn’t have much to say
His girlfriend came out for a smoke
We went around back and I gave her a poke
I really hope she enjoys her wedding day

Nothing to do so do what you can
And hope to make it to become a man
Flirting with danger is no easy way to go
Life can be hard and is often slow
And to get along you gotta go with the flow
Swimming against the tide only gets you beat down
Buck the status quo to pass the time
Hang out with friends who have the same mind
Southern man can keep his head after all.

This song is a hoot... a great story.
The song structure/arrangement could use some work, and your vocal timing is a mess, but you get the point across... I love it.

Fun story for sure. Good band, and excellent vocal, Blong. A lot of good lyrics, and the last line of each verse says it all.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Well, that set expectations right. laugh

Fun listen!

Worthless trivia from Wikipedia (since you allude to it in your last line):

Quote:
In his book Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream, Young stated that Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote "Sweet Home Alabama" not in response to "Southern Man", but rather to Young's song "Alabama". Young noted that Lynyrd Skynyrd's implied criticism was deserved because Young's lyrics to Alabama were condescending and accusatory.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Some of the lyrics are factual. As an adolescent in a small South Georgia town I did go to square dances because that is where the girls were. A friend did cut me with a (pocket) knife because I was dancing with a girl he liked. Actually, he and I were in a band together and remained friends (Bro's before adolescent girls who did you a favor by dancing with you.) Interesting tidbit about Neil Young. Nice catch.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
