I have a song with 95 Bars. The Melody Track, which is a MIDI track (that was imported from a MIDI File), has information thru bar 94 (as viewed in Piano Roll).
However, if you go into Audio Edit View, to use Volume Automation, on the Melody Track, and scroll out as far as you can go, it stops at around bar 66.
Other tracks do go out to the end.
I had hoped to insert a fadeout on that track, using the Volume Automation feature.
Also... Trying to use Bar Settings didn't work either. I had selected "All instruments", and "Fade (per bar)". All instruments faded, except the Melody Track.
Hmm.... Bug? Or, maybe it's just me. I do seem to have many issues.
If your midi file was downloaded from the internet then most likely your melody track has embedded volume commands in it. Whatever you try to do in Biab or any other midi software will revert to the embedded commands as soon as you hit play. You have to clean that track up first before you can make changes. Look up Midi Event Editor in the Help files.
You probably need to filter by 'Other Controllers'. You are probably looking for CC 7 (volume) and/or CC 11 (expression).
This is not the problem. I had previously deleted all volume and panning controls from the Melody Track, using Notation view, filtered, on all channels. But thanks for your reply!
Hello everyone, please go to Melody > Track Type, and select "Single Channel" and see if this helps. Having the track on Multichannel could be what is causing the issue.

Thanks Chantelle. I've tried your suggestion, but it doesn't work for me, when switched to single channel with the TTS-1 Synthesizer (no audio).
I need to keep this track as Multi-Channel, since I am using the TTS-1's mixer to balance the channels.
I don't want to split the Melody Track's channels to the Utility Tracks. The Utility Tracks have many "inequality" issues that are still too much an issue for me.
Don't mean to sound ungrateful. I do appreciate your trying to help, and I know the team is working hard to get many of these issues ironed out. Thanks!
Something I missed in your original post was you saying you went to AUDIO edit view?
Are you talking about midi or audio? Did you render that track?
Also, it's helpful if you include everything you did when posting a problem ie filtering out the midi data.
Bob
Bob, it was a MIDI. And I did go into audio edit, but... It was to use the volume automation to perform a fadeout. This works on MIDI files, even though no waveform is showing. The problem that I had was, it didn't let me get to the end of the track to fade it. It had stopped around bar sixty something, when the track actually goes out to around bar 92. And shows and plays to 92 in piano roll. Sorry that I wasn't clear!
I use BIAB for gigs. I've installed 2022 and have build 917 which isn't officially out. One of several problems I'm having with the program is that you can save a volume on the midi file and when you reopen that file, the volume plays at 90. You can save the volume at O and when the file is opened again it plays full volume. I have cancelled my next gig because of all the problems I'm having with the program. I really believe the program wasn't really ready to be released.

It's too late to say this now, of course, but I would be very cautious about using any recently released software from any company for something like a gig where one really doesn't want anything to go wrong.
The usual and probably best advice is to make your backing tracks into an .mp3 or whatever, so that you have as little as a media player to go wrong. Unfortunately, an .mp3 sometimes just isn't what's needed. Sometimes one just can't can't commit in advance to the key or the number of choruses or whatever.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. Kawai MP6, Korg M50, Ui24R, Saffire Pro 40. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11; Win8.1: Scarletts BIAB2022 UltraPAK, Reaper, a bunch of stuff.
Dan Sherbon maybe you can go into more detail. i assume after saving your bb song , on next open/play your settings are not saved ?..is this the problem ? if this case ...DO A SAVE WITH PATCHES rather than a vanilla save. if that dont do it...go into more detail please. for example if you have imported into bb a midi you didnt create possibly it has embedded commands that are overriding your own settings on playback. the bb event editor will show you if this is the case. THUS you need to delete the settings in event editor that are overriding your own settings. if your new to midi i would urge you to read up on this pg site in the support section bout midi plus maybe getting a book on midi.
mebe its a bug..dunno...i'm not there to see whats going on. but post back how you get on with above suggestions.

I don't think this is related to the problem being discussed in this thread.
Your problem might have to do with MIDI channels. Is this MIDI file you have imported to a the melody track, or do you have multiple MIDI utility tracks? Try clicking on the track | Track Settings | MIDI Channel, and choose a specific unique channel. You could send a sample file for us to test and reference your post here.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
