Hi all,

Biab is driving me nuts again....
I finally managed to find, where TTS-1 dll is installed and picked that as a recommended DXI output.
Only I get no midi sound out of the songs. I hear only the realdrums/-tracks.

What is the issue here?

Thanks for your woodoo knowledge.

Happy New Year
Stefan

CW TTS-1 is a DXi
Try making TTS-1 your default synth.

Hi blow-head

TTS-1 is already my default synth.

It opens directly when going to Plugins/VST-DXI Options.
In the mixer TTS-1 is shown right from the start as well.

Any other clues?

Thanks for your valuable advice.

Cheers
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I notice that you are using ASIO as your audio driver. Some ASIO drivers only let a single application use them so if you have other audio software open, it's possible that is taking precedence.

What happens if you change your audio driver to MME or WAS? (I always use MME.)

Also, on the right side of the MIDI driver setup window, you "Native Instruments Bandstand." Try setting this to "Cakewalk TTS-1." This is a patch map but it would still be a good idea to align it with your softsynth.

Regards,
Noel

Some translation issues here but, you don't have TTS-1 selected as Sound Card and you don't have "Route MIDI thru MIDI Driver" checked. This configuration works for me.

Sorry, nothing helps.
Cycled thru the options WAS/MME... to no avail. Also amended the settings you mentioned Noel.
I hear only the realdrums. Nothing else.
Also switched the songs for a change.

No other music software was running in parallel.

Prima Donna is challenging again.
I played on my Tyros instead with Biab today.....

Cheers
Stefan

OK I may have this one. I had a possibly similar situration with VituralMidiSynth which is a sound Synth much like your TTS-1 (maining it is not a DXi which is loaded in another place in BIAB).

Quote:
Edit- Sorry. I reread the post. Seems you TTS-s is a DXi which is not set up in the pictues I have here. But this may help you appreciate how hard/confusing this can be. The sound you are missing is coming from your Default Synth. You just have to tweek somethings. Keep pushing buttons. Look at the final picute I added and see how I change from the VisturalMidiSynth back to my default synth.

So my system has several Win10 outs for speakers. I found that for some reason the output Win device was set to my ASIO system. Now I don't use that for BIAB so those speakers are generally off. And I would hear no midi sound. I had to open up the separate standalone configuration app which came with VirtualMIDISynth to the driver where to play the sound. See the picures below.

Any chance you have some similar configuration, (multiple speaker system?) cause this took me weeks to discover.

Stefan,

My next steps would be to return to factory settings. This is found under the "Options" menu. I've often found that when BIAB doesn't do what it should, a reset will often solve the problem.

1) Firstly, choose the "MOST" option. This will reset everything except the MIDI and Audio drivers.

2) If (1) gave no joy, I'd then try the "ALL" option. After this, it's necessary to re-enter the MIDI and Audio drivers.

3) If neither of the above worked, I'd then close BIAB (this is important). I'd then go to "bb\preferences" and rename the following two files...

INTRFACE.BBW rename to INTRFACE.BBW.OLD
MySetup.DK rename to MySetup.DK.OLD

Once I've renamed the files, I'd restart BIAB.

These are the files where preferences are saved. Renaming to something like the above effectively deletes them from BIAB. As a consequence, BIAB will create new ones when it starts up. This is the most extreme way of resetting BIAB and sometimes it's necessary.

If you need to get back to the old files, it's simply a matter of deleting the new ones and removing the .OLD from the above.

I hope that one of these approaches work!
Noel

Are(or were) you using Cakewalk as DAW? I had trouble running mine because I think Cakewalk (or Roland) had something proprietary encoded into the plugin. I could never get it to run in anything but Cakewalk.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
