I had listened to the song on the computer
It sounded so good that I immediately listened to it in my living room over my stereo.
The sound is excellent
The guitar solos played really great
What I like about this song is that it is faded out
This always fits great with this kind of music
Great work Torrey
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Thanks Andi! I always appreciate your comments! T

Excellent tune to start my day. Classic R&B sound. Composition and vocals are brilliant. Listens very well. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

P.S. There is a small brass section at about 0.58, which is interestingly shifts groove a little. I think it could be fun if it sort of repeated in different sections throughout the tune.

Thanks Misha! The brass is actually repeating all throughout the song but in a lot of places it is obscured by everything else going on with vocals and guitar fills. T

[quote=floyd jane]Torrey,

I remember this! Terrific catchy melody.

Drums sound GREAT. Punchy, melodic Bass. Nice guitar. The horn accents are well done.

Excellent vocals and BGVs.
There were times that I thought the vocal seemed in-a-different-space than the instrument mix. That feeling seem to come-and-go as I listened (several times - first on monitors, then with earbuds).

Good music - as always. Love listening to your stuff...

Thanks Floyd! I was trying out a new effects chain for the vocals ( I have since re-posted with a different one) and it was probably the reason things seemed a little "off", especially when the double tracked parts came in.

The main vocal is rather dry compared to the band and the backing vocals........works perfectly!

Thanks Captain! Yes this one required a dryer. Tighter effect for the vocals. T

Hi Torrey,

I also remember this song. I was impressed then by the smooth melody you brought/bring so catchy to us/me.
In other words, I was a littlebit jealous and wanted to make something like your melodies too!
Well, nothing much has changed; the remake is also very good and catchy and it's a great swinging song.

Oh..., well one thing changed; I'm not jealous anymore, because I accepted I can't reach the hight you have in the vocals ;-)

We are R&B fans and also the Doobie Bros so this works for us!

Engaging is the word for us ... from the intro to the fade.

Vocals, lyric, melody, your instrumental performances and the mix are all ace.

Enjoyed it!

I agree with Firesong: This has a Doobie Bros feel. Soulfully sung. This would have been a top 40 staple back in the day. Love the guitar bits.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
