U Can

If I can then u can. Really just me learning a new software program and having fun.

Most all of my songs start in BiaB but this one started in a $12 purchase called Uchord. In Uchord I can open up chords. So I put in a chord progression and an arpeggio dragged them to my DAW and added some BiaB tracks.

BiaB style = Peace - Gentle, Slow 4/4 New Age
Tempo = 40 BPM

I used the piano and guitar tracks from said style:
Piano - EZ Keys - electric grand - preset chorus grand. I slightly modified this track
Guitar - Play - symphonic choirs - preset - full choir
Uchord - backing string track - Kontakt - Kirt Hunter Virtuoso Ensemble - preset -strings
Uchord - the harp arpeggio - Amadeous - preset - harp
Me - I played the cello, violin, viola, and French horn via my MIDI keyboard controller. All instruments are from Kontakt - Kirt Hunter Virtuoso Ensemble.

FX - Master - Breverb - preset - cathadrial

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Nice, peaceful composition.

Orchestral music is not easy to do correctly. I've got a few "orchestral" compositions to prove that very thing. If I was thinking about seriously venturing into that genre, I'd probably start with listening to the top composers in the business starting with Bear McCreary. He's a master of his craft with so many series under his belt. Black Sails, The Walking Dead, Outlander, to mention just a few.

It's fun and challenging to delve into new territory. Dig in and have fun. I miss playing with my synths every now and then. The better you understand theory, i think the easier it is to do it well.

Good song.

Oh yes U Can...Love the piece and the peace that this invokes...sounds like the soundtrack of a good movie sequence...it's always so much fun to produce something that is off your beaten track and especially something that evokes great emotion and feeling...you hit the nail on the head my friend...great listen!

Thanx so much Herb.

I would like to do orchestration like David Arkenstone; that is orchestration in a new age setting.

I do have some theory in my tool box and yes it does help.

Smooth and relaxing.

The strings are the centerpiece here, and they sound very good.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

No theory here. No orchestral attempts here.

Just a couple of rubes from the provinces who much enjoyed this composition and reading about how you achieved it.

It's perfect for looking out the window in our forest at an emerging springtime.

Nice ... very nice.

Thanx so much.

We have another 2-4 weeks before spring starts arriving here. Then we hope it doesn't snow in April, which it has in the past.

Thanx Scott for listening and commenting. Like EZKeys (both sounds and MIDI loops) Uchord adds another dimension to BiaB.

Hi Mario,

O M G!

This is spectacular. I love the way you weave between minor and major modes. It's truly awesome arranging.

Have you been listening to some of the Russian greats such as Khachaturian, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninoff? As I listened, I could hear melodic movement and harmony development reminiscent of the finest works offered by these composers.

This is truly mesmerising.

All the very best,
Noel

Looks like there's some money to be made for you doing the score in the next Netflix movie :-).

Seriously, very well done!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
