I would find it helpful to be able to identify from my DAW a particular Real track I used creating the arrangement in BIAB

One possible way to do this is to add the RT # of all tracks the track output wav file name.

Is there a way to do this or some other approach that would yield same similar result?

Thanks

A good one for the WISHLIST.
RT No first, then instrument, then abbreviated description.
I export my BB wavs into a desktop folder, then into my DAW. (My DAW not recognised - its too old). In the tolder I rename them RT first.

Yes, put this in the Wishlist.

It could also have the instrument name then the RT#, but either way would be helpful.

+1

THanks for confirming what I want does not exist in the present.
So much functionality in this code I often stumble into features that I had no idea existed.

FOr now When creating utility tracks I generally add the RT# (often I'll take 2 or 3 of the same instrument)to the name of the track in the mixer. Helps to keep it straight
That gives me what i want in the DAW for utility tracks.
Guess I could do the same with the main biab tracks.

Still automagic is always better.

FWIW I get the RT# when I drag the file from RB to Reaper (I assume BiaB does this).
Maybe workflow thing?
Does dragging add it for you, as opposed to exporting/importing it?

Not using RB
I use Logic and BIAB Mac (2021)

Some observations

1. A direct drag of a RT from biab mixer to Logic does not do anything although the drag appears to be toting an AIFF file. The dragged file icon simply disappears when dropped in the Logic Tracks area

2. A Single RT render drag/drop from BIAB via the top left corner export (.wav) works fine.
The output track has a long name that includes _single Render SGU_name RT# , Style description.
Much closer to what I would like but this means an interation through each track. Tedious

3. The whole song single file per track export creates a bunch of wav files that do not include the RT#.
These wav files are easily dragged into Logic en masse.'

Perhaps PG could add some configuration parameters (instrument/rt#, etc) to the file name construction in this safe file dialog box.

I might also get what I'm after using the DAW plugin. I tried the plugin early on with less than a maximized user experience. Perhaps its time to try it again.

Most DAWs have a place for notes. Copy the Song Summary from BiaB's Song Memo and paste the text into the notes section of the DAW project file.

Jim,
Good Idea. Some concern about keeping it current as I swap instrumentation around often.
Perhaps I may not need it.

I worked a bit more with the plugin. Watched a PG video or 2.
The drag and drop from the plugin provides the RT# in Logic on the Track.
Good stuff.

I did notice it took over minute to generate 4 Real tracks and a midi track using the plugin.
Thats noticeably worse than using BIAB native by a factor of at least 3 or 4. or 5

I have a 2013 QuadCore I7 MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM.
Is the plugin generation that much slower than Native?

Native BiaB starts playback before it is done generating so it appears faster...

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
