Ive been using PTW 2020 and it worked fine. Downloaded and installed PTW2022. First time I tried to use it I received the “Power Tracks has stopped working” error and it froze up. So I uninstalled 2022 and reinstalled 2020 and it works fine. But every.single.time I boot up now I get the “Scanning and repairing drive c:”. I went online for solutions and nothing seems to work.
It seems like the 2022 install messed up something on c:. I am using Windows 10.
Any solutions would be appreciated!
Bernie

B.
try this.
1.open up 2020 and note all your settings for 2020.
in 2020 preferences.
close 2020.
2. open 2022 and check that 2022 preferences are same as
2020...if not correct preferences.

failing above i would contact pg support.
OR post pics of ALL your 2022 and 2020 settings so folks can help you. its difficult to help without knowing your
settings...a picture is worth 1000 words etc.

ps re win 10 there is lots of info on the net re drive scanning/repairing....just google....
"microsoft scanning repairing drive win 10"
lots of info. i would be surprised if a music software like ptw caused the problem.

I suspect some time recently you forced the computer to shut down. (physically powered it down or something when there was an issue)
This caused a problem with what was in RAM and trying to be written to the hard drive.
They got interrupted.

So the disk thinks it should have data somewhere and it doesn't.
Have you tried actually letting scan & repair do its thing?
If you need to postpone this process you can, but every time you reboot it will ask again.
Try letting it run.

Like Muso, I doubt software actually caused this, but rather user reaction to something (possibly software related).
It may have indeed been user reaction to an issue with PT, but PT itself is an unlikely culprit (to me) given the known details.
If you shut down the PC instead of ending the culprit Task, this could be a result.
Just my thoughts

Hi Rharv - I do scan and repair run every time, but it keeps showing up.
The interesting thing is that all I did was install 2022. The first time I tried to run it I got the Power Tracks error and it just froze up the pc. I did nothing to interfere, but I had to shut down manually because it was frozen.
I have googled the scan and repair issue and there is lots out there, but nothing has worked yet.

I found an app on my pc that does a “reset”. I am assuming it was for windows.
After that, PTW 2020 works fine.
The interesting thing is that it saved a list of the apps it uninstalled, which included some of my VST and VSTi. Yet when I run PT and load them into a midi track, there they are. No message about missing files. Interesting.

The more you tell us the more it sounds like a Windows thing and not PT.
Have you tried reinstalling PT2022 yet?
Your above post says 2020 is working fine.

Rharv.
The only way i feel that B’s problem can be reconciled
(assuming his pc is now working fine) is if he posts pics of his settings in ptw 2020
As well as ptw 2022 settings.
My suspicion is that 2022 settings are different from 2020….thus problems.

So to B if your reading …
PLEASE POST PICS OF YOUR SETTINGS…in 2020 and 2022…
Otherwise its mighty difficult to help you. and we are guessing in the dark.
its sorta like a pilot flying blind.
For example i dont even know what sound device your using !!
ALSO IF YOUR STILL HAVING WIN 10 PROBLEMS GET A QUALIFIED
PC TECH TO CHECK YOUR PC OUT.

Rharv.
Thats a seriously cute new puppy pic….my wife liked it too.

Ya know what baffles me ? and ive seen it not only on these pg forums but also other recording/daw forums is….following scenario time and again..

A user/op requests help…so someone like you or i thats been through setting up a project recording studio (many times often..) responds with needing more info on the users daw settings //sound device and other info via pics, so we arent flying blind and are giving the right advice back..BUT

Then the OP.. either one doesnt hear from again or doesnt post the requested info so intelligent suggestions can be made.
As you know the most important aspect is setting things up with the right settings in any recording software/device.
So my question is why did the user ask for assistance originally ?
years ago when i got into recording i was like a sponge soaking up the great advice given freely to me by very nice AE’s in big recording studios.

Thus i’m baffled.

I just reinstalled 2020 and it’s working fine, so I’m going to leave well enough alone.
Thanks for the help though!

Hi:

Check it out, you eventually have a Antivirus or any security software, that might be blocking some activities of the new installed version. Who knows?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
