I used to live a couple of doors down from the Dakota where John lived with Yoko and Sean, and I often saw her out walking the dog.
When I walked to work through the park I had to cross over the Imagine sign that covers a spot in the entrance to the park. It got me (and gets me still) every time I see it. Goosebumps. The meaning of it.
This is very pure--this performance. Quite remarkable. The boy who Hey Jude was written for and about now all grown up and singing this song in times like these. How can you not be stirred?
For a brief flickering moment (really) I was reminded of what music actually is.

It's a lovely, heartfelt performance. It pushes forward the always annoying, to me, lack of plural agreement in the beginning: "imagine there's no countries", but that's an artefact of his dad's writing and no worse than many others. It does beg the question, which he tried to answer, why now? Why not for Yemen, Syria, Palestine and the other nations in similar situations and with worse death tolls? The answer, invariably, comes down to awareness which comes down to media exposure...Murdoch et al aren't interested in the other ones.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
