Math Quiz

This is a real math quiz so get your paper and pencil ready.

BiaB style - RapJazz 2 - Jazzy hip-Hop
Tempo - 90 BPM

Bass - Ample bass - YingYang
Drums - Presonus - Impact XL
Piano = Velvet - 44 MKII chorus
Guitar - Synthmaster One - DR Claptrap VS
Strings - I divided the string track into 2 tracks:
Chords - synthmaster - BT GlowFlies
Single notes - synthmaster - Pad-Add Pad
Me - trying to sing - FX-Waves vocal rider, Presonus Pro EQ, EZMix1, EZMix2

No effects on any of the instrument tracks

PS - See/hear why I do instrumentals!

A Math Quiz

Two friends and I were having lunch
It didn't cost us very much
We divided the bill three ways
So 10 bucks we each paid

For the 4 out of 3 people who have a problem with math that is 10 times 3 equals 30

The waitress took our cash
The bill was really 25 so she came back
She gave us each a buck
And took two for her good luck

For those who took new math that is 3 times 1 is 3 plus 2 is 5, 25 plus 5 equals 30.

So we only paid nine bucks each
And that was a real treat
We were happy that she took the two
But something was askew

For those who have a problem with math play close attention as this gets a little complicated

The 10 we paid minus the 1 means we each paid 9 bucks
9 times 3 equals 27, now that doesn't suck
The waitress took 2 and that was fine
But 27 plus 2 equals 29

So what I want to know is
Where in hell did the other buck go?
Where in hell did the other buck go?
Where in hell did the other buck go?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

That was fun and an interesting math teaser. I'll leave it to others to post a solution.

Haha, I've never heard you sing before! This was a fun song, something completely different.

The solution though...uh, let me see, eh..

I'll get back to you on that ;-)

Clever rhyme, but I'll need some time, to clear my mind... maybe a fiddle in the middle might help me solve this riddle.

Fun song! Nice to hear your voice. laugh

The waitress took 2 and that was fine
But 27 plus 2 equals 29

When the waitress "took 2" from 27, that's generally considered "subtraction", not "addition". wink

A clever use of causing confusion by doing the math backwards instead of forwards. In reality, the Bill was $25, the waiter took $2 and three friends got $1 each.

$25 + $2 + $3 = $30
(The $27 includes the waiter's tip)

Anyway, clever song and lyrics, "Mario the rapper" grin

Very cool song Mario. Excellent vocal. Loved your lyrics. Backtrack was well done. I want to know where the extra buck went as well. I think the cook got it

Mario,

A really good mix and a creative, quirky write. I really like the insertion of the spoken word between the verses. The vocal works really well for the song (you shouldn't be shy about doing more of that!). Good stuff!

All my best,

Deej

I agree that $25 + $2 + $3 = $30. But the $9 we each paid times 3 equals $27 but that does not include her tip. $27 + her tip $2 = $29 wink

Nope I am not a rapper; it's just my vocal range is 4 semitones!

Thanx for listening and commenting!

Hi Mario,

It's very nice to hear you sing in this song. Real fun!
Not only the joke/ridle itself (I knew that ridle), but how you connected it all with that in between voice.
Maybe you can use a little variation in the verses or going up at the end of some lines?

The band played very well.
Waiting for your next song with the vocals!

Great one Mario! I am certainly one of those 4 our of 3 people who have trouble with math. I love unique and clever writing like this. I was surprised you had trouble finding a style for this one, I would think it would go with pretty much any genre, but it's hard to argue with this one. Came out very well.

HAHAHAHA. This is awesome, Mario. We've never met and you are one of my all-time favorite humans. I do my math in my head, and it was spinning by the time we reached the end. In my mind I saw a buck ran away with the dough. Or was it the doe ran away with the buck? Great song!!!

Mario, you're quite the imaginative musician! Haven't heard too many "math" tunes I must say (I'm surprised I haven't done something like this-my wife was a college math teacher for many years). It's a fun and creative tune! Thanks, Torrey

Mario,

Very very fun!
It's a math quiz for elementary school students, but it's a really fun losing the answer on the way.
It is a nice idea for this song no effects on any of the instrument tracks.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hey Mario ...

A great song and a math lesson all in one. Simply amazing what we hear on this forum. Totally enjoyed my listen. I didn't attempt to figure it out as my head is still a little fuzzy from all the pain meds I was on until a few days ago. Regardless, it was a really cool listen!

Since you're so good at math, what's the square root of a radish??!!

Alan

Absolutely brilliant!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!

As for the solution, hang on:

If the bill was 25, but you guys paid 9 dollars each (27 bucks in total), where are the two extra dollars you paid? And also, she took 2 dollars on top (equalling 29 in total) ... you were well and truly swindled!!! haha ...

Argh!!!!!! She should have given you $1.66 each (5/3), and THEN, if you wanted to tip her, you could have given her the two dollars for her. Thus, $25 + $1.66 x 3 = $30 ... have I solved it? haha.

Regardless, what a song!!!!!!!! From every perspective, loved it - one of the most fun songs I've ever seen on here. Bravo.

Thanx so much. I appreciated your comment about no effects. Sometimes you just don't need them.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Thanx so much Alan. I know about pain meds and how they affect your mind.

The square root of a radish is 3.45678 peas!

Thanx James for listening and commenting.

Yep, we got swindled. That is the last time we will eat at the Redneck Diner and Gun Shop!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
