This is why I love EZdrummer, just a short sample of a phased funk sound from EZdrummer, with the plugin directly placed in biab using biab midi drums track.

Ezdrummer phased funk style.

Guess I’m the odd man out. I’ve developed routines using RD’s (and their respective audio clip containing each component hit) that allow me to readily get what I consider to work well with our productions. Logic Pro X routines allow me to remove the snare, kick, etc., from the RD track and replace it with the same component on a different track. And a bit of comping from several RD regens give me the fills I want. It may sound convoluted but I spend a very small amount of time on the routines.

The above combined with my minimal drum knowledge and age smile is enough to keep me from heading down another production rabbit hole!

i'm the same. i force myself to work with the gear i have.
the problem ive got going to the next level of adding big sample libs to my rig to augment the RT's and RD's is i dont wanna spend loads of time doing downloading and installing and going thru loads of menus. cos it can chew up time. thus i'm hunting for sample libs that are easy to use/deal with. without dongle/security stuff.
one reason ive stayed with pg is the security stuff is easy to register etc etc. and fair and non intrusive.
same with reaper...it dont hassle moi.
same reason i use computer music uk plug ins in some songs...they dont hassle moi.

I understand exactly. My past experience with EZdrummer 2, just like with BIAB, was that there is a steep learning curve which is made worse if, as a hobbyist, you use this infrequently. I am sure EZDrummer 3 will be simlar. But in this case, since I have been weened on EZdrummer 2, for me I am hoping it may not be so steep. But a lot of this new tech does feel like "another production rabbit hole".

This stuff is not for everyone. crazy But EZdrummer 2, like BIAB did things that no other product does. So the $79 upgrade to EZD3 is a no brainer for me.

om, if you want good libraries you will spend a lot of time downloading. Good libraries are a lot bigger than GM.

No matter what you get there will be a learning curve. A lot of software like Kontakt and Sampletank are very easy to use, for instance just pick a sound and let BiaB MIDI supply the notes. After that if you really need you can get into the deep part of Kontakt; I don't have much knowledge about Sampletank. Note that I rarely get into the deep parts of Kontakt.

Kontakt is very easy to activate as are most of third party libraries for it. Once activated you are finished, just like PGM.

I think you may be over reacting when thinking about good libraries. Most of them are like plug n play; that is you pick a sound and you're finished. The biggest learning curve will be learning MIDI, regardless of the library. YMMV

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Today is last day to pre-purchase with the discount. Tomorrow you can download.

Here is a summary of everything known as of today... it is shorter than looking at all the many previews.

I agree.

By the way, this was a Q/A that I found very helpful...

Q: How do you choose the destination folder for EZDrummer 3 Library? I want to install the lib in a specific SSD (I'm on windows) and the installer doesn't ask where to copy the files.

A: EZDrummer will install into a default location first. Once that is done, open up the standalone version, select Settings in the Options menu and it has an item that shows where the MIDI and Sound libraries are located. you can open that location up directly in Windows Explorer. Close the standalone down then move the EZDrummer folder to anywhere you want. When you open the standalone up again, it will ask you to browse to the new location.

THANKS DAN!!! I could not figure out how to install it somewhere else and had to delete some apps to make room! Now I'll go back and move everything to my external drive.

I don't know Addictive Drums well, but hard to imagine it would stand up well agains EZDrummer 3. EZD3 is a virtual candy store of features, graphics, whistles and bells. The large adjustable screen and incredible GUI combined with the enhanced content of midi and kits is truely impressive. Youtube is filling up with EZD3 videos. You have to see it to belive it.

However for me the final value to be proved is to use it to make music! This is always a priority for me when I get something use.

Would it still be a smart move to buy EZD2 and upgrade to ver3, or has that ship sailed?

Too late. That boat sailed on May 3rd. now you have to go straight to EZD3, but it is still on sale.

Here it is from the horses mouth. Right near the beginning he layes out all the puchase options.

I was able to insert all my "user midi" which includes all the Groove Monkey midi and a mountain of other web products. Sweet!

Yep! No drama. It works as promised. There almost certainly won't be an endless stream of updates fixing new features (and breaking existing ones!) I have definitely found my new drummer! And given that I already own EZ Keys I am seriously looking into their EZ Bass product as well. I feel I may just be close to having my band in a box with Toontrack!

Glad it's turning out well J3! After I had SD3 and EZKeys, I went with Ujam for Virtual Guitarist (IRON) and Virtual Bassist (ROYAL). Some of their products were out before Toontracks related stuff did. Otherwise I may have stuck with all TT too. Just a couple of other options when you're looking. Have fun playing!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
