Rise I finally had time to work with the voice of Synthesizer V Solaria. I chose a song I wrote in 2014, because it is one of my favorite and has quite different feel than in my usual songs. I think it was inspired Crimea event at that time, although originally the song was about the Novgorod Republic and a wish of the return of its Veche bell (Novgorod was the eastern neighbor of Finland when Finland was part of Sweden, Novgorod was totally destroyed in 1570 by Ivan the Terrible, the first Tsar of Russia). Now that Ukraine may face the same fate, I rewrote the lyrical content to reflect the situation where the independence of a country is threatened by dark forces. I hope the story doesn't sound too gloomy. The lead vocalist Solaria is used in the instant mode (AI auto pitch tuning), Solaria and Kevin in the backing vocals are used in normal mode. I had problems with "p s" combination of consonants (sounding more like "k s"), I used "p z" instead, maybe there is a better workaround or the bug will be fixed in a future version. Otherwise, Solaria sounds really convincing, especially in the instant mode and I could spend ages to finetune each syllable. I used the Slavic Vocals for the melody in the bridge part, thanks for the suggestions on this forum. Also Cantus VST is used in the last chorus. RealDrums: PopModernGrooveSync RealTracks: Acoustic bass Celtic #1162 Acoustic guitar Rhythm #1175 Acoustic guitar 12 String #1680 Acoustic guitar Picking #1765 Electric guitar 12 String #1029 Acoustic piano #887 String Quartet #2335 Mixed in Adobe Audition Vocals: Synthesizer V Solaria (Lead, backing), Synthesizer V Kevin (backing), Cantus (backing), Slavic Vocals (bridge melody) Lyrics: Rise the nation that's hurt rise above the troops of hell rise from the ashes of Apocalypse to toll again the freedom bell. The rising sun its journey to dye yellow corn fields beneath the azure sky. The rising grain the harvest of toil the yield of the soil feeding the hungry kids the future secured despite the falls the people have endured. The rising freight the ships full of exports, ready to sail through the world's every gale. Rise the nation that's hurt rise above the troops of hell rise from the ashes of Apocalypse to toll again the freedom bell. The rising threat the beacon of blight pales achievements serves agony and fright. The rising beast is burning the oats and sinking the boats killing the crying kids the future's in doubt when Satan sheds the darkness and the drought. The rising help awakes from the slumber, takes off the night wears the armor of light. Rise the nation that's hurt rise above the troops of hell rise from the ashes of Apocalypse to toll again the freedom bell. ------------------ Janne

Janne,
2 BIG thumbs up. Absolutely great all around.
If there is a way to send this to Volodymyr Zelenskyy you should.
https://soundcloud.com/user-646279677BiaB 2024 Windows For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

The synth vox really do take the idea of song demos to a new level. I can't do a decent job on vocals with my songs and this sort of thing would be good for me. The song is terrific and the "selling" by the synth vox is up to the task.

Janne, Wow! This is so different and great on so many levels. You are catching up fast with technology. Sad subject, but a beautiful and very well produced tune. Looks like David C. got a competitor Listens very well. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

Hi Janne,
Amazing song, amazing AI vocals! Beautiful lyrics too! I'm impressed! David C gave me the link to these AI vocals and I was thinking about how to use them and then I heard your song. As Misha wrote, you are a fast learner and David has a competitor. I can only agree on that, however, a competitor? I can imagine you together make one great AI opera one day.

Double Wow!!
The lyric is strong, the band and arrangement are excellent and that Solaria is stunning! She truly would have fooled both of us.
It’s sad to have the current situation fit a reworking of this fine lyric but you have produced a beautiful song, Janne.
Excellent,
J&B

That is absolutely fantastic!
I really like the way that rhythmically, the vocal Melody cuts across the rest of the track. And there's some unexpected turns of Melody they are quite arresting.
I also really like the way it builds when the drums come in. Mix-wise, I think they're a little loud. But otherwise a perfect compliment.

Wow, Janne this is truly excellent and definitely the best I've heard from you so far.
The song is highly melodic and the programming of the voices is done so well.
I was particularly struck by the high-pitched sound (with emotion!) of V Solaria. Man, do these synthetic voices get better all the time!

A really meaningful song, where the lyrics work wonderfully with the melody.
Melodically, this is really excellent, and your vocals have done absolute justice to your delivery.
Very nice.

The story IS gloomy, Janne, and impossible to speak of it otherwise. Your song, however, includes a measure of hope. It can even be described as beautiful. Man, those synth vocals are really quite amazing, and you work them like you invented them. Great band. Those guitars play off each other perfectly, and lay down the perfect bed for the vocals. There's a dirge-like feeling that is so appropriate; it brings in despair and hope simultaneously.

Janne,
That Solaria synth vocal really sounds good! It really fits this song well! Beautiful melody and chord patterns! The choice of using 12 string guitars really works! Drums coming in half-way through was a good choice! Great song!
Thanks, Torrey

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
