Background to the wish.
Last night i was experimenting with a doo wop 50’s vocal ballad style…as i like doing vocals in various styles…i like the challenge…BUT i found i had to adapt myself to one of the existing bb styles. And i couldnt get “the feel” i heard in my head…SOOOOO…i’m wondering if it would be possible for biab to adapt to an input rhythm rather than user adapting to a specific style.

The wish.
Its prolly asking for the moon but i feel it would be wonderful if biab rt’s//rd’s could “follow”
and “adapt” to a input rhythm “template”....eg..4 or 8 bars even or swing or whatever template…...ie...
..someone records a rhythm guitar or piano rhythm as a template….OR
..a beat tapped out…or a vocal scat etc etc.

I’m not asking for chord interpretation from input …like acw…the user still would enter song chords…BUT on genning bb would gen the rt//rd traks based on input rhythm template.

In conclusion the idea would be after the user recorded the rhythm template and bb told to use the template instead of its normal methods…that bb would then come back with a “test” in one chord eg C for 4 or 8 bars ….so the user could verify it mimics the input template.
and "feel" in their head.
Only THEN would the user go thru normal process of entering the chord arrangement in chords view....and bb following the rhythm template input.
if bb ...and i know i'm asking too much allowed several input templates eg 3 in a song so user could switch tween them...nirvana ...lol.

Mebe its asking for the moon…lol.
apologies if i wasnt clear...its difficult to explain.
but i feel this would make bb more flexible.

Best

As I understand your wishlist request you're wanting Band-in-a-Box to be able to interpret three items, tempo, feel and time signature from a few bars of audio. Then suggest styles based on the interpreted results. Is my understanding correct?

+1 from me. Numerous times I've had a riff or song in my head but lost the thought as it morphed into something else while auditioning styles.

Recording your thought so BiaB can interpret the audio has the side benefit of preserving the thought. So you can always return to your original audio to reset your mind.

Jim.
thanks for the +1.
let me add some comments. its rather interesting.
i foresaw that once the users rhythm template is entered and the chord arrange that..user would then enter the rt's and rd desired and bb creates a style that 'fits' the user rhythm template , and massages the rt's and rd samples rather than user haveing to 'fit' to a particular style...ie all driven by the user.OF COURSE bb would also point out instruments chosen that are too much outside the users chosen tempo.

i know its asking a lot.

Is that like how I suggest to have a pattern match like EZDrummer/Bass has where you enter the pattern or drop a midi file in rather than going through thousands of styles and tracks ?

That's why I made the random one here
https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=716176#Post716176
as it allows the Divine to step in and give you something you may of never found. It's not going to be the same as as another user's song that users the same preset style.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
