COME BACK WITH ME

it looks like i just fell in love in texas
the girl who owns the horse ranch where i stayed
i rode with her, i drank with her
and talked out by the fire
then i kissed her hard before i drove away
a couple hours on the road headed to des moines
out of the clear blue i hear this little voice

(chorus)
it was my heart sayin' "don't go far
i never got back in your car
i'm with that girl, and i feel you ought to be.......
so if you care, i ask you lovingly....
   come back, come back
   come back with me

her family's run that ranch for generations
and my job's mostly on the internet
two weeks of that texas moon
was all it took to know
that cowgirl is as good as it gets
i'm staring at the ceiling in this motel bed tonight
thinking that my heart just might be right

(chorus 2)
when my brain says "soon you'll be alone
cause most of me is back in san antone
with that girl and i think you ought to be
so if you're smart, i ask you logically....
   come back, come back
   come back with me

(bridge)
well, my heart has beat it out of here
and now i've now lost my mind
the rest of me can't be very far behind

(chorus 3)
every part of me chimin' in
sayin' we ain't gonna ask you again
with that girl is where you've got to be
so come back, come back with me
   come back, come back
   come back with me

Anything.

Floyd,

What a fun song! The music bed is the perfect vehicle for the lyrics! You did such a great job putting that band together! It would seem that Bill is a great collaborator! I could go on and on about your songwriting abilities because you just keep churning out one great song after another, year after year! I don't know how you do it! But don't ever stop!

Thanks, Torrey

The perspective is a cool narrative tool.
That swing thing works a treat and there's not much to offer but - very cool, great fun and well done.

Cheers

Tight and catchy tune!

Great vocals.

We particularly liked the bridge which was short but effective.

You write such fun stories, Floyd, then present them in such a catchy way. I like how the fiddle creeps in to take over. You bring in each instrument in the perfect way to strengthen the interest. What a great mix all through.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks, Torrey. Yes, Bill is a good collaborator - a good lyricist - he understands prosody well and writes "fresh" and conversationally... I'm always fascinated by lyric guys who do not play an instrument at all...

Hey Floyd ...

There's a lot of fun packed into 3-plus minutes. I noticed you co-wrote this with Bill Osofsky. He's a heckuva writer. And Bill's as great guy, too.

That swing always plays nice in my ears. I was tapping my foot (it's kin da hard to do the Texas two-Step when you're sitting, though) and smiling all the way. I love the simplicity of the song and arrangement. I also love songs that have a bridge when one is needed - not just thrown ibn because.

A real sweet listen! Best to you & yours.

Alan

Loved the groove on this song. A definite two stepper. Lyrics were very cool. Super vocal and the backing band was excellent. Super production...

Hi Floyd,

Another beauty!

Good song, well sung and I particularly liked the three choruses with different lyrics in each.

Best Regards
Nigel

Hi Floyd and Bill,

What a fun song! Very well written and performed.

Loved how the fiddle comes in part way through the 2nd chorus and sticks around for the rest of the song, works a treat.

Listened a couple of times, enjoyed!

You have a really nice "two-stepper" there.

I just watched the Yellowstone series and this fit right in to the pictures in my mind.... although Jimmy ( in the series ) was a cowboy who needed to learn more than a few things about life.... most of it the hard way.

Great job on the mix, the music, and the song as a whole.

Floyd...you can't write a song about Texas without some swing in it...man another great song...great concept and realization of it...the track is spot-on and the vocals were really good...your voice is so suited for this style and tempo...I'm always amazed at your writing skills...you and Bill have got a winner here!

Floyd,

Love the country swing feel to this tune—the banjo was a great touch. Every aspect of this production is top-notch . . . as your tunes always seem to be. Outstanding!

My very best to you,

Deej

More classic delivery. I read the lyrics before I listened, not knowing how the accompaniment would sound. Wow, what a surprise. The lyrics are great. The combined total is little short of amazing.

Loved the breaks, and the entire versatility. Excellent.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
