It's a good question, and a little confusing for sure.
It is the RealTrack number identifier that is used in the Style you are using. E.g. the 1196 on the Fiddle track is this(immediately below), and the 755 is the piano track shown in the additional screen capture.

It's probably the easiest, and definitely the shortest, identifier of an individual RealTrack, and you can search and sort on that column shown by AudioTrack and Jim. Tip: sometimes variations of a sound will be in adjacent numbers, making it easier to audition them.

Incidentally, the 'N/A' means you don't have that particular RealTrack available on your system, possibly due to the level of the 'Pak' you have purchased (Pro, Ultra, Audiophile etc).

Bonjour,

Thank you for your reply ....

Unless i am mistaken, there is some confusion between RealTracks Sets and RealTracks .....

Exemple : in my situation above; the RT 752 is missing (N/A). In which RealTrack Set can i find it ?

Said differently, i do not understand why the description of a given RealTrack Set in the Style Picker does not give information on the list of RealTRacks it is supposed to contain.

Merci !
Daniel

What level of BIAB did you purchase? Pro, Mega, etc.

N/A means it's not available as was mentioned and you won't find it in the sets. Each level of BB that you buy has more tracks than the previous level. AND.... there are additional track sets you can buy as add on.

I believe if you do not have the track in your purchased version, BB will substitute a suitable equivalent track so you're not missing the bass or piano for example. The way to get that track is to upgrade to the next version that does have that track in it.

Bonjour,

Thank you for your reply ...
I understand what you mean, but where is the link between REALTRACKS SETS and REALTRACKS ?
When i buy a REALTRACK SET i suppose that it contains the corresponding REALTRACKS it is expected to use ....
Some idea ?
Merci

The not very aptly named 'Pro' pak is the 'entry level', 'essentials', 'lite' version of BiaB.

The chart below shows the difference in the number of RealTracks and Styles available in the different paks.

This would explain why you find so many that are N/A (Not Available).

That's actually the RealTracks picker shown above. However, yes, you should do this is both the RealTracks Picker and the Style Picker:

The +++ RealTrack Sets for Windows webpage +++ and +++ RealTrack Sets for Mac webpage +++ list 400 RealTrack sets!

Although the list fails to provide the RealTrack number for each RealTrack the RealTrack Picker window does.

I've attached a screen shot with highlights identifying where the equivalent midi patch number is located, the RealTrack instrument number column and the RealTrack set column.

Merci Jim for your clarifications ...

To complete the discussion i will say that the StylePicker is very confusing as it gives a wrong information :
- red arrow : the column SET# indicates a RealTrack Set
- blue arrow : in that column the acronym written RTxxx is then understood as a RealTrack and not as a RealTrack Set

Conclusively, RTxxx should be worded as RTS (for RealTrack Set).

Do you agree with me ?

Daniel

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
