WHY This is a co-write with long time friend Ron Helm. The title is from a song I posted a few years ago but took the idea another direction with new lyrics and music. Thanks for having a listen! BTW, if this sounds like the 70's, it's because that's where we're from lol! BIAB Drums - Funk Half Notes Sync Organ - 2692 Modern Pop Slow Mike Paino - 2906 Electric Vintage Me Vocals Bass All Guitars Piano Synths Vibes Why Words and Music by Torrey Bliss and Ron Helm © 2022 Glass Gate Music I don't know how You know what I don't know Why do I stay in the dark when I see Your light Over and over again I sing the same old song I wanna believe that I'm right when I know I'm wrong I've got to know, please let me know How to get back on that narrow road Why do I do the things I don't want to do Why do I hurt You when I say I love You Why are the days I get it right so few Tell me why, tell me why You're always the One who is there every time I fall When I want to be left alone that's when I hear You calling That obsession for things that I want not what I really need Lord, You said lay it down, walk away and put your trust in me I've got to know, please let me know, why do You love me so Why do You love me after all we've been through Why show the mercy that You have to this fool Why give me hope when You know what I will do Tell me why, tell me why I've got to know, please let me know How to get back on that narrow road Why do I do the things I don't want to do Why do I hurt You when I say I love You Why are the days I get it right so few Tell me why, tell me why Why do You love me after all we've been through Why show the mercy that You have to this fool Why give me hope when You know what I will do Tell me why, tell me why

Oh man...do you know how to put a song together...that's not a question it's an observation! That was so clean and tight...what a great song (right out of Romans 7)...why do I do what I don't want to do? (that is a/the question)...this is one of my favorites from you...it showcases a great many of your musical skills...I'm not going to say all cause I think you still have plenty in the tank we haven't seen or heard yet...but back to "Why"...I love the groove of this and the your guitar work is crazy good and the descants and harmonies and the lead vox...I'm a great fan of your work and maybe guilty of coveting some of your gifts (why do I do the things I don't want to do??)...you know what I mean? Thanks for your post...Dan

Hi Torrey,
Another Pop/Rock cracker - beautifully done - vocals, production and most of all your guitar playing which is absolutely spot on.
Yes reminds me of 70's R&B Pop - reminiscent of Steely Dan.
Best Regards Nigel

That's a really good song with excellent vocals and very good guitar playing.
The only thing I'm not 100% happy about is the snare sound, for my taste it doesn't fit as well as it could. But that's just nitpicking, I'd be more than happy to produce something that sounds as professional as this. And had such a good vibe...

This is another gem from you and Mr. Helm.
If I closed my eyes I’d think we were listening to an episode from "Daryl’s House." They always feature great vocalists and harmony. Passionate vocal and excellent band and your always pro level mix!

Torrey,
Dang, you are just too good at this songwriting thing . . what a wonderful write coupled with a killer groove. If I were to get nitty on the production aspects, I might want a touch more reverb on the vocal. But it sounds slick and smooth just as is. Love the guitar solos. Outstanding!
All my best,
Deej

Such a pleasure to see a new one from you, Torrey. Your songs are always packed with amazing talent. I guess that's cuz you are, too. Love that bass, and the strong guitar, and of course your vocals shine. The mix is also just perfect. Ok, here's what I don't like about it:

As for the snare sound, it's a highly subjective thing that people have varying opinions on! I don't like a thuddy sound or over the top crisp. I prefer this sound in my projects and feel it fits and am satisfied with it. I also chose this set because it fits the groove of the song better than any other realdrums set imo! Thanks for having a listen!
