Slow, reflective and with an almost haunting quality. Strong, thoughtful (and thought-provoking) lyric. I would leave the mandolin right where it is. smile

My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile smile

Hi Janne.
Thank you.
Glad you approve. I agree about the busyness of the mandolin. Still looking for an alternative.

Good write, vocal and choice of RT’s.

We agree with others that the omission of drums in this song works just fine.

The ethereal steel might’ve been our choice for the solo in keeping with the mournful feel of the song but the mandolin gives it a little shot of joy. smile That juxtaposition can be effective for sure.

Good one, Vic!

Thank you Byron.
Sorry.
There is a little subtle pitch correction here and there but not so much as you'd notice.

This sounds great Vic.

As someone else said, it is very intimate. Sounds like it is coming straight from the heart.

I really enjoyed this one.

I think that's the best way to write and sing.

Superb. That's all. Anything else I would say would be superfluous. Congratulations.

Vic,

Since I'm rather "late" on this one...
and you "kept it simple"... I'll do the same...

Excellent!!!
Loved everything about this.
The Write (so good!), the Production (nice), the Vocal (perfect).

Best thing I've heard from you (over these many years).

"Late" can be described as "thoughtful" Floyd.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment.

Changing the BIAB style/instrumentation is what I do too to get the sound I want.

I like the instrumentation. Fits the mournful, melancholic feel.

Good Americana.

Thank you for your comment.
This style started out as "Campfire, fingerpicked and strummed".
I ditched the two instruments and replaced with others I felt were closer to what I needed. Then I ditched half of what I'd added and came up with this.
That's the way it normally happens for me.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
