Nice relaxing music. Sure like the mix you put on everything. I really liked it when the harp came in - very nice.

That is a great selection of BiaB tracks to backup up your nice nylon playing.

The bodhran was nicely understated in the very good mix.

Enjoyed it!

I like the mood of the intro, but in my opinion it somehow does not fit to the mood of rest of the song.

But, overall, I think it's a beautiful and relaxing song and I like it, nice arrangement and a great guitar melody.

Now the important question: why October 16?

Brian, you are a "Master of Melody", I like all your arrangements. This one has to be a love song to someone special.
And I felt the key change coming before it happened.
Absolutely great job !

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Particular congratulations on getting the bodhran to sit well...I was battling with it a couple of weeks ago.
A sweet sound piece thing for certain.

Cheers

This is some really sweet music

Super chops and an outstanding mix

To really nitpick I don't think you need that intro guitar part. Personally I think it distracts from the song but that is only my opinion.

Regardless this is a masterpiece.

Loved it.

Hi Brian ...

I always like your instrumentals - well thought out and nicely mixed. That Takamini sounds so sweet! And your playing is meticulously good - perfect touch and intonation! what a listening pleasure!

For me, by far one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard on here. The melody line is out of this world - your playing of it is immaculate and heartfelt. The storytelling is immense. I want to cry.

The entry of that other instrument, whatever it is, up there in the higher register, is perfect - as are the bells which follow.

Have you got the actual sheet music to this? I would most likely buy a copy, if it were available, if only for myself to look at, as I listen.

I am, for once, speechless. This is not "just a song", this is a classic. This should be in the guitar repertoire, if only as an encore or something (because it's short). In any case: BRAVO. Hats off and respect to you.

P.S. I'll disagree with others on here ... I would keep the intro, were I you. I feel like I can see why it's there. In any case: EVERY musical choice on here is masterfully done ... I wouldn't personally change a thing.

Ghostgum,

You do such a lovely job on your instrumental arrangements . . . this is no exception. They way you weave in the different instruments and sounds throughout is impressive—crisp from start to finish. Outstanding!

I do tend to agree with a couple of the others above about the intro. It’s fine, and doesn’t take away from a stellar offering, but it does seem a bit different from what follows.

Hope all is well in your world,

Deej

Hi James,

Thank you for your comments.
Unfortunately, I am one of the most illiterate musos on the planet. I neither read nor write those strange squiggles on paper that they call notation. To compensate for this disability, I seem to have been given a reasonably good ear. smile

Thank you!

This bodhran track was different to most. I had a shaker built-in, which gave it an almost Latin feel.

Thanks, B.D.

I'm still working on an alternative intro and, as for your important question, Bass Thumper seems to have answered it.

Thanks, BT. I grew up in an era when melody was paramount. As we moved into the 60s and 70s it became more about the beat. The, in the 80s and 90s the beat scene was swamped with electronic arps and patterns. Nothing like variety!
