I Used To Relish My Time Alone

Been a bit distracted the last few months sorting out issues with an elderly parent.
In any event here is a new one about loneliness.
I saw that Janne used the tin whistle in his most recent track - it's also featured in this one.

Leon - Lyric & Vocal
I played some guitar.

I Used To Relish My Time Alone

I used to relish my time alone
When I could do just what I pleased
I used to relish my time alone
These days I hate to see her leave

I used to dream about the highway
I thought that freedom meant to move
A moving target that was my way
Love was just a chain to be removed

I used to relish my time alone
Now I crave her company
I used to relish my time alone
These days I hate to see her leave

Believed that I could do it on my own
Thought I was finding my own path
Finally discovered what freedom truly meant
On the day that I gave her my heart

What a thrill to know that someone cares
Every pleasure’s sweeter if it’s shared
No man is an island, now I know
What the poet meant almost 400 years ago

I used to relish my time alone
When I could do just what I pleased
I used to relish my time alone
These days I hate to see her leave

I used to relish my time alone
Now I crave her company
I used to relish my time alone
But now I hate to see her leave

Peter & Leon,
another reflective, sombre and excellent song.
Perfect arrangement for the vibe and vocal.
Well done gents.

Cool opening with that tin whistle. Leon, I really like your vocal and the lyrics are always contemplative and relatable. Man, this is a really great idea for a song. You don't know what you got until it's gone, and "I Used To Relish My Time Alone" is such a good twist on that theme. Driving guitar, Peter. Great tone, and the perfect statement. The meaning of the song is heard in every note.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Really nice song and well sung which I've come to expect from you. I thought the song was over and then Don Felder took over and brought it to another level! Well done!

Peter...super track...soulful and contemplative lyrics are set in such a good palate...I really love the transition from the acoustic to the electric...it finalizes the song with a powerful lead and expresses so much emotion...the fade is perfect...well written...well sung...and well produced!

I was also enjoying the song thought it was ending with some really nice harmony when it shifted into third gear.
And I just rode the wave of mighty fine picking on home! grin Cool song and loved the arrangement guys!

Peter and Leon—

Nice write, nice production, resulting in a really good tune. The tin whistle, which I thought at first was a flute, works really well—nicely melodic within the mix, which I think is sometimes difficult to do. The mix overall sounds really good to me—vocal sits nicely in the mix. Really smooth arrangement—well done! Love that stop at 3:50 and the ending from there on—very creative and well executed. Great job, guys!

Leon - good write. Well sung.

Peter - very nice arrangement/production. Well mixed.
The vocal effect was cool (a doubling effect?)

Loved the ending.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Good song with very interesting lyrics, and I LOVE the break and the guitar solo at the end, that's a very cool idea.

I'm a bit undecided about the vocal sound, on one hand it sounds a bit too processed, on the other hand it fits the song.

But it doesn't sound bad at all, so it's all good smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Gentlemen ...

What a cool song! And that guitar at the end really seals the deal. Powerful lyric with the perfect arrnagement and delivery. Yeah, a cool song for sure.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
