Hello forum friends. Listening to some great stuff on the forum!! I've spent too much time away, but always love coming back. Thanks so much for all the kind comments on my last post! I always read them all, but don't like to push my song to the top if I'm gone for several days or a week. Just know they are very much appreciated. This is a song I got the idea for when I was briefly in Seattle in Sept. of '21. I just like the way the title rolled off the tongue. Hope you enjoy. Would love to know what you think! Take care. Greg

September in Seattle

September in Seattle
And the skies are turning gray
I feel the autumn rainstorms commin’
I know they’re on their way
And your probably on a beach somewhere
In LA doing fine
And I’m the furthest thing now from your mind
Left behind

October in Seattle
Still not quite feelin’ like myself
Halloween is coming
Stores have costumes on the shelves
And I think about your sister April’s party
Where we met
Just one more thing I’m trying to forget

And I know it’s way past time now
I should be movin’ on
Find away to just accept somehow
Admit you’re really gone
Just face the truth
I know I lost the battle
In September in Seattle

December in Seattle
And the cold cuts to the bone
And I’m haunted by the thought
Of spendin’ Christmas Eve alone
And I’m feeling like these blues
Are never gonna disappear
Maybe next year

But for now I’m feeling beat
Can’t help feelin’ mired in defeat
My spirit is embittered and embattled
In December
December in Seattle

And I hope that you’re OK
The sun’s still shining in LA
But it’s rainin’ in Seattle

Really pretty song Greg and loved the harmony and cool ending.
Second one I've heard on here today with a really cool ending.
I just rewatched the old movie Sleepless In Seattle a couple of weeks ago
Well done.

Greg,

Lovely song, lovely melody. Just an excellent write and your vocal slays. Great song structure on the write as well. Wonderful specifics and terrific lines throughout. One of my favorites from you—just outstanding. Agree that ending is really well done!

My very humble regards,

Deej

Nice new song, Greg, great idea to use a city in the lyric. The youtube link led me to much of your other terrific material, and I ended up spending about two hours listening to it. What a pleasure! Can't say enough good things about your music. Will revisit for sure.

Greg...I have to get on board with Deej...gorgeous song...love the melody and the harmonies are top-notch...your vocals are always one of the highlights of your songs...but then again I can't find any low-lights...from the lyrical story to matching it with the right style, to the arrangement, to your recording and mix...it's just a great production of a tender ballad...it makes me think of Dan Fogelberg...I hope that's a compliment I mean it as a high one! (You should consider visiting some other cities long enough to make a complete album)

Hi Greg,

This is another top song from you and very well sung.

I particularly liked the outro with the BV's and Guitar.

Good guitar solo in the middle and at a nice loud volume.

Can't wait for your next song.

Best Regards
Nigel

Hello Greg,

A very nice song, sang very laid back and still sounding so emotional.
I loked at al the posts here to see if I can add something that wasn't said.
I couldn't find one

I enjoyed your singing a lot in this song. It still sounds in my head and gives me a smile. Wow, ain't that a big compliment or not?

One of your best, no doubt about it. Wonderful. Wow - it's hit me harder than I thought it would, I have no idea why. But yes - absolutely brilliant in every way - singing, writing, lyrics, structure ... loved it. Well done.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

I love melancholy ballads and when they are sung by the silkiest ballad voice, nothing can go wrong. Really heart-wrenching lyric fits these rainy and darkening Autumn days. The arrangement is pure gold, really like the drums and the solo guitar is dosed perfectly. The backing vocals sound excellent, great work.

Hi Greg ...

You are a "Hit Song Machine"! You turn out one gorgeous song after another. This is beautiful. Alth0ugh poignant and melancholy, it's such an easy listen. For obvious reasons, I don't have to point out the superb vocal. But I will. Di says your voice is as soft and comforting as a cotton ball falling into a basket of rose petals. I couldn't have said it any better. Your arrnagement and mix is stunning.

As always, I am beyond impressed. Take care, my friend ...

Alan

Hi Greg. You know I always talk about how wonderful your voice is, so I'll skip that obvious part this time. Man, I really like how you write songs, too. Right from the alliteration idea to a masterpiece of music. The chord changes keep your listeners slowly rocking to the groove, then the melody brings them in even further and invites them to sing along. The wonderful lyrics give them something to think about, and whether their experiences can directly relate or not, they will always understand. Man, that's far and above all the requirements necessary to join Tin Pan Alley or the Brill Building writers.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Greg ... fabulous song! My wife and I have several special memories of times spent in Seattle, and one of her favorite movies is Sleepless in Seattle. The way you've put this song together, both lyrically and musically brought feelings alive. Yes, you've got a great voice, and the way you use it here is just a fantastic compliment to an already great song. The guitar you chose for the lead was perfect and the mix was great, so I guess to repeat myself ... fabulous song!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
