I'm not really a jazz or swing fan, but I like your song, I listened to it until the end, and I enjoyed it.
Both of your voices fit well with this kind of music.

Technically, maybe Carmel's vocals could be a little louder sometimes because in her frequency range there's a lot going on, but otherwise it's mixed pretty well.

Hi B.D. Thomas,

I think you may be right - I have manually adjusted the volume of her vocals in places.

Best Regards

As a harp player, it's very hard for me to hear anything except Little Walter's iconic version. But I love, love, love this! The interplay of voices was fantastic. Sax was wonderful. Great reworking of a classic. Is it really PD?

Hi Nigel,

I'm very familiar with this song, heard it many times by different performers over the years.

I really like your take on it, love swing.

Good vocals from both of you, especially like Carmel's (nice job on the sax also!)

Great!

Nigel,

This sounds great. Love the jazzy vibe. Vocals are excellent.

Also love the Elvis version of this song from his 1969 Vegas shows.

Oh, cool, Nigel. I didn't know it was public domain. This is one of the songs I'd sing and play at the same time in different bands. This is an outstanding version. Very creative. What a sensational band -- a dream band. The you and Carmel trading vocals ---totally superb. I with TuneMonger on the Little Walter harp, but this is truly a treat.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hello Nigel,

When listening to your song, I thought I knew it, or at least it sounded a bit familiair.
My father was crazy about this kind of music and he played the records all the time.
Probably that's why I'm not such a great lover of it. I got an overdose...

But I like how you make these song back to life again. The vocals are great, from both singers (Carmel and you).
The band plays very, very good and everything sound so well. That I enjoyed the most!

Nigel,

I feel like I'm in some jazz club.
Great sax playing and jazz vocals.
I feel so happy listening to it while drinking scotch.

Best regards.

The only advantage of not knowing standards is being able to hear covers without preconceived ideas of what it should sound like.

As with all your productions, great vocals and instruments.

Sax sounds sweet, and I love the interplay between the vocals. smile

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
