Hi guys,

As my first posting here, a simple version of Holst's classic tune:

https://on.soundcloud.com/1echX

Originally I planned to sing it but the laryngitis struck. So the melody is a midi track exported from the notation program I use, Finale. I used BIAB's Hi-Q 026 02 Guitar, Acoustic, Finger Picked as the sound.

There is no style as such, the accompaniment is just three RealTracks:

RealTracks in song: ~365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085
RealTracks in song: ~409:Fiddle, Background George Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 624:Fiddle, Soloist George Ev 085

Cheers,

Ed

And welcome to the forum smile

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Ed, welcome to the forums

Super use of RTs

Fantastic mix

Slow sparse songs are the hardest to do but you really raised the bar on your first post

Outstanding work

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Everything fit together so well, this was pure pleasure to listen to. Looking forward to whatever else you will be posting and it's so nice to have someone who's interested in older material. I love early music, as Holst did, and someday I hope to post something along the likes of John Dowland. It may never happen, but it's on a back burner. Once again, nicely done.

Hi, Ed. Welcome to the Showcase. And what a wonderful case you bring to show. This tune is very moving in its stillness, if that makes any sense. Hopefully your laryngitis recedes and you can do the vocal, but this is a really good instrumental. Good use of both programs.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks for the welcome and the nice comments. Sadly I can't take credit for the melody, it was written by the rather wonderful Gustav Holst over 100 years ago.

Thanks, Greg. I hope to do some more but this time of year gets so busy. It seems that real life leaves little time for creating music just now.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
